Yes, When I was in Costa Rica, Tucho and I called the 800 number and it worked perfectly. It was a little choppy but I got to talk with someone.

I will call in a minute. I have a project I need to e-mail first

honestly Jenn,

I think its more like 1-3 months quicker.

That can apply if you dont have the "tools" that we have here on VJ, like the shortcuts to get through NVC in a snap. Or if you get snagged somehow at NVC

Also, consulates vary..some schedule a month or two later than k visa's some dont.

There are so many variables though

The k3 was SUPPOSED to be much faster, but alas...they drag their feet at USCIS now and it adds months on to it.

But even if it gets em here 10 days faster..:luv:

lol

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

who said that???? check the timelines of VJ members and you will see the difference, it's not a big time difference and with shortcuts available in vj you can finish with NVC very quickly; compare your timeline with a vj member who filed only I130 and with same NOA1 date as yours, they might be already approved and probably out of NVC and you are still waiting for an approval ......wish you good luck and an approval soon

Wait, explain this one more time...I am now officially lost. I thought I understood it when Jen explained what the USCIS agent told her today:

"He said since I filed the k-3 it slows the processing down on the petition side but once it is approved the K-3 flies thru the visa process. So, he was nice enough to put in a service request for a file that wasn't even out of date range AND was so nice about it. I thanked him for being so nice. He was very appreciative. He did confirm that they go by the K-3 date ( not that I doubted you Lisa) So my priority date is July 29th. I know they are working on July. Hopefully with this service request, it will put a flame under someones rump. Maybe they will pull my file out from under the leg of the desk and process the SOB so I can be with my hubby !!!

He told me the stand alone CR-1's gets processed faster in the petiton side but could take an extra 6 months to a year on the VISA side. I am definately going with the K-3. " (QUOTE BY JEN IN ANOTHER FORUM)

but I am now confused again....YIKESSSSSSS!:blink::wacko: IF K3 and I 130 are being approved together, what does this all mean and which one is fastest visa to get? Isn't it still the K3 visa??

NVC Journey: Finally OVER APRIL 21, 2009!!! INTERVIEW PASSED 05/12/09; VISA IN HAND 05/20/09

03/05/09: K3 and I 130 both approved! FINALLY after 230 emotionally trying days @ VSC!!

03/06/2009 : NVC Received; 03/09/09 Case Number Assigned; 03/10/09 K3 stuck in AP

03/17/2009 : AOS/IV fee bills generated (by email @ 10:00 p.m.); 03/18/2009 : AOS/IV fee bills paid online

03/27/2009 : AOS/DS 230 package sent to NVC; 04/02/2009 : AOS & DS-230 entered into NVC system

04/14/2009 : Found out K3 was forwarded to the consulate in Leb and CR1 stuck in AP; 04/18/09: K3 delivered

04/20/09: WOOHOO CR1 already out of AP; DS 230/AOS accepted with no RFEs!! Sign in failed on NVC payment site.

04/21/09: MAGIC CASE COMPLETE @ 4:30 P.M. THANK U GOD!!!

04/27/09: Hubby passed his medical; CR1 interview assigned for June 17th By NVC; but changed to MAY 12th after emailing embassy on 05/05/09 )

Yeah but did they already get the visa?? That is the million dollar question and what Jen was trying to say I think. Cz getting NOA2 and getting the visa are two separate things. But then again, I am unsure about this whole thing myself...

The reason K-3s are supposed to be quicker than IR-1/CR-1, is the NVC process. K-3, NVC just forwards everything to the consulate. IR-1/CR-1 you submit all the K-3 packet 3 info to NVC. So what time you lose in the NVC process, you gain back on the consulate side by not having to deal with packet 3. If you use the lingche shortcuts, you can get through NVC very quickly. I think the latest record is 12 days. K-3 is not a good visa. You can not work, you have to file adjustment of status which costs $1010. You have all seen how much fun it is dealing with USCIS. Do you really want to go through all this again with AOS, EAD etc.? I can't understand why anyone would want a K-3 visa now since the NVC process moves so quickly.

ok. :)

the cr1 needs processing at NVC(without shortcuts, this can take months) while the k3 makes a "pitstop"(usually a week)

consulates usually schedule the immigrant visa interviews a little further out than k3 visas (can save about a month)

What I was saying is that, yes the k3 CAN save anywhere from 1-3 months...not 6+.

Some people use the "shortcuts" through NVC for their CR1's and only lose the scheduling difference..about a month.

Although, some consulates will let you "swap"you aleady scheduled K3 interview for a cr1 interview. so SOME people..who:

a) use the shortcuts and have NO hang ups at NVC

B ) swap their already scheduled k3 interview for a cr1

can have the "superior" visa with no time difference.

there are MANY variables, but quite simply..a k3 saves you a month, maybe 2.

Thanks!

that's greaaaaaaaaaaaaaat; i'm happy that we didn't send I129F....now CR1 is faster then K3

ONLY during the petiton approvals When you get to the Visa part the rep told me it could take 6-12 months longer than the K-3.

honestly Jenn,

I think its more like 1-3 months quicker.

That can apply if you dont have the "tools" that we have here on VJ, like the shortcuts to get through NVC in a snap. Or if you get snagged somehow at NVC

Also, consulates vary..some schedule a month or two later than k visa's some dont.

There are so many variables though

The k3 was SUPPOSED to be much faster, but alas...they drag their feet at USCIS now and it adds months on to it.

But even if it gets em here 10 days faster..:luv:

lol

Isn't it still the K3 visa??

ok. :)

the cr1 needs processing at NVC(without shortcuts, this can take months) while the k3 makes a "pitstop"(usually a week)

consulates usually schedule the immigrant visa interviews a little further out than k3 visas (can save about a month)

Oh, I get it now  , so does this mean after you pass the interview it's not like K 3 u might get ur visa say in 48 hrs whereas CR1 they might tell u come back and get it in another 3-6 mons? Right?? Oh boy!! I can't wait till this is over and there's no more wondering and uncertainty :bonk: SIGH...

well, thats the thing that i was battling today... some get pulled for AP(k3 and CR1), some dont, some get their visa in 2 weeks..some say "AP for 4-6 months"

I HAVE to think that the longer you wait at a service center, the better off you are in escaping long AP. One case made me nut up temporarily today (super fast approval,no AP) but im back
