I-693- medical for AOS

Hi,

I just called a civil surgeon to make an appointment and have the supplemental form I-693 filled out, and his secretary said the visit would cost $260!!!!!!!!!?? Is that possible?

Did anyone go to someone in the DC/Maryland area and knows about this ?

I can't comment on DC/Maryland, but here in Seattle, when I called around to get the Vaccination Supplement prepared, the costs varied significantly.

If you had your medical exam for your Visa less than one year ago, you do not need another medical exam. You only need to get the Vaccination Supplement prepared. If you have a copy of the Vaccination Worksheet from your medical exam in your home country, you can take that with you and they will transfer the information from the Worksheet onto the Supplement.

We were charged $35.00 for this service. No additional vaccinations were required, just the completion of the Vaccination Supplement.

Call around and get prices from several civil surgeons to get the best price.

My wife needed vaccination supplement as well after she came here on K3 visa couple of months back. We are in Southern California. I called 10-15 doctors before I found the one who understood the rules and was willing to do the vaccination supplement only; every other doctor either told me I was wrong in asking for the supplement only or that they will only do the full medical.

This one doctor knew what we wanted and gave my wife one shot based on the vaccination records she had and charged $80 - $60 for the shot and $20 for completing the supplement.

$260 you have been quoted certainly seem excessive.

It would appear from that charge as though they are not only completing the vaccination supplement but also doing the full exam again which is unnecessary. You could try giving them a copy of the USCIS guidelines regarding not needing a full medical within one year of the previous one and they should then just charge an administrative fee for completing the supplement. Otherwise you should shop around. Unfortunately there seems to be very little regulation as to how much doctors charge for such things.

The one I went to didn't charge me anything to complete the form but just charged $75 for the vaccination I needed.

Best advice is to make it clear that you don't need the full medical and then shop around if they are not willing to charge only a small admin fee.

I've read on this board people pay between 25.00 and 350.00 depends on the Dr and where you live. We paid 170.00 for the supplement only

Thank you all for your answers.. I had a feeling 260 was outrageous .In the meantime I called another doctor, who after 5 minutes understood what I needed and said it would cost $50 but - of course- when I asked for an appointement she said she could not take peatients from my area... I'll call more doctors, and hope it will work out eventually..

The $260.00 is probably for the full medical exam, which is not needed in your case.

I just went down the list of Civil Surgeons in my area, and found one about half a mile from my office, who would tranfser the info for only $10.00.

Any add'l vaccinations were $20.00 each. What a steal!!!

We were quoted $150 and I just wanted to get it over with. When we got there and actually saw the Doctor -- he didn't do anything but put a few check marks on a <badly> copied piece of paper, sign his name, put it in a white envelope and put his stamp over the seal. That cost us $100.00 -- they refunded us $50 because we didn't need any shots.

I was just happy to find a Doctor who knew what I was talking about....

We paid $180 for everything; for the shot, tb-skin test and HIV tests. Now on my "Supplemental Form to I-693" it says:

"3. Results - Applicant may be eligible for blanket waivers as indicated above".

Now my td shot was remarked as "Insufficient time interval" under "Waivers to be Requested from INS"

Do I need to do something about this? A waiver or something like that?

I have the sealed envelope on my hands which is ready for the infopass interview. But I get paranoid about the waiver thing.
