Need advice regarding changing embassies

Hi,

I need some advice with a slightly complicated situation. My fiance is British but is studying in Canada. His student visa runs out on 2/28/06. We started k-1 process in October but unfortunately, it doesn't look like we are going to complete it before his student visa runs out at the end of this month. He has his medical scheduled in Vancouver on 2/16/06 but we have not heard any word about a possible interview date. My questions are these:

1.) Does anyone know what the process is for requesting a case to be transferred to another city/country (in my fiance's case, it would be London) and

2.) Anyone have any advice about whether we should go through with the scheduled medical in Vancouver on the 16th or would it be better to cancel the medical and have him do it in London - not sure if this makes any difference if you have the medical and the k-1 interview in different countries?!

Any advice would be helpful - thank you!

saraandiffy,

Has the approved petition reached the consulate yet?

In any event, why not call, e-mail, or visit the consulate in Vancouver to discuss the situation?

Yes, the petition has already reached the embassy and we have already faxed our packet 3 checklist about 2-3 weeks ago now. My fiance emailed the embassy yesterday and I suppose I am just anxious to receive a response from them or at the least, other people's opinions as our lives are up in the air right now.

saraandiffy,

What's the petition doing at the embassy? That's in Ottowa, is it not?

When it gets to the consulate in Vancouver, go in and discuss it with a consular officer there. They are the ones who will have to initiate whatever action is appropriate - process the application to completion or send it to London.
