i just called safeway and was told that the most i can get for a single money order is $500. i obviously need $675 to cover all fees, so i guess what i'm asking is, would it be a problem if i got 2 separate money orders? one for $500, and another for $175?? thanks!!

Many do this for other petitions and applications like Adjustment of status ($1010 fee tends to be more than the $1000 max allowed by some MO issuers) Not a problem.

USCIS will also accept a personal check for the full amount, and personal checks are easier to confirm being cashed.
