Drug testing

I'd mellow out.

If he doesn't smoke for a month (or do any other drugs), he'd certainly pass a drug test, but it is uncommon for a drug test to be performed as part of the medical. It does happen, but it's not the norm.

My husband was not asked about drug use in either of the interviews (K-1 & AOS).

K-1

March 7, 2005: I-129F NOA1

September 20, 2005: K-1 Interview in London. Visa received shortly thereafter.

AOS

December 30, 2005: I-485 received by USCIS

May 5, 2006: Interview at Phoenix district office. Approval pending FBI background check clearance. AOS finally approved almost two years later: February 14, 2008.

Received 10-year green card February 28, 2008

the medical went well from what i thought, i went in there with my friend was told to give them my photo, my passport and my form then told to wait, the lady brought a clipboard with another questionnaire, they had all sorts of questions about drug use, abuse, suicide, self harm, diseases, and i looked and saw the section the doctor fills out about mood, how the patient seems, if they seemed like the lied about something etc..

then i went to speak to the nurse about injections.. I didnt have records of, she asked questions, said id only need to have 2, can do that at my GP and fax them the form.. I asked if I needed to give Urine sample - no, so i went to the bathroom (i was trying to keep a fresh sample incase :P)

then i went and had the xray done, had to wait around, the technician showed me my xray looked fine, went into another room with the doctor..

he asked how i was, I tried to be very positive and upbeat, he asked how healthy I was, i said Im in good health i try and take care of myself.. he weighed me and measured my height, made me lay on the table/bed checked my pulse on my foot, asked to look at my arms, checked under my arms, then listened to my heart beat told me to cough, then breath in, hold my breath, blablabla.. listened to my heart beat chest, and then on back.. then pressed his hands on my stomach, asked if i felt pain.. no.. asked if i have ever taken drugs, been cautioned by the police, ever lived with anyone who had turberculousis.. No.. and then that was it.. went to the waiting room.. then called by the nurse to pay.. that was it

That doesn't sound too bad. My fiance is a great guy and I love him very much, I just hope his exam goes as well as yours. He never worries about anything, I do the worrying for the both of us.

I wasn't sure what you meant, I'm very sick and not thinking straight! I've already told my fiance to dress nice and take his weird earring out though :)

Tell me about it! I'm 19 and he's 25 and I'm the one looking out for him! I just worry because I just can't fathom having to spend 3 years away from him, it might kill me!

I won't worry about it. I'm sure your fiancee isn't the first person to not tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth regarding drug use.

I had my medical at the knightsbridge surgery and don't remember anything about drug use history and definitely wasn't asked to pee into a cup. Being a good looking 25 year old white boy has its perks. And even if on the off chance he is tested as long as he's not a regular user the screen should come up negative. Marijuana, from what I remember from my toxicology classes, is metabolised pretty quickly (less than a month, possibly even a few days, but I wouldn't swear to it).

Good luck.

Don't worry. In Germany they did a blood test and urine. I don't really know if they even tested me for drugs (don't know if they would tell us all the tests they perform anyways). All I know they tested is HIV and Lues (Syphillis). However, I heard in certain countries drug tests are standard procedure (like Jamaica, for example).

I am not here to tell you to lie to the medical staff or the consular officer.

Like I said, actions (i.e. doing drugs) have consequences. Seriously.

I'm not stupid and I know that. He's only done it once and he was just hanging out with a friend. I can't live without him for 3 years.

bullshit, i hear that daily from clients of mine..who get tested at work and test positive..he is a liar..so lying to the CO, will be business as usual for him

Hey now, there's such a thing as the occasional indulgence--say, to enhance the effect of the Cool Whip or the Grateful Dead.

My fiancee was recently denied for this exact reason. She admitted to using marijuana in the past, then admitted to using it more than twice in the past three years. This is an automatic 3 year ban. And in her case, her use was infrequent, so infrequent that she truly had no clue it would affect her chance to immigrate. She never bought the stuff, nor ever sought it out. Just something that happened in the occasional social situation. We are VERY honest people, but having been thru what we have, and me seeing how she is slowly deteriorating from our continued separation (i don't have time to get into all the details, but there are other circumstances which are making my immigration to Canada much harder than her's to come here), we undoubtedly would have done things differently. Her decision to say yes to those questions has made things very difficult, and while I honor her integrity, I also recognize that we could be together right now.

This law is meant to keep harmful people out of the community. She in no way is harmful, and was intent on volunteering while she awaited her AOS down here. My community and my country missed out on her (and me for that matter) because of their black and white laws. No doubt, if we could go back and do it over, we'd lie, because she is not the threat to the community that the law is trying to prevent.

Now there is a way in which he can tell the truth and still get in. If what you are saying is true, and that he only did it once, he can call it "experimentation" and still get admitted. That's why my fiancee was asked if she did it more than once. But again, I'm not sure if this always works, and will likely complicate things, as I'm sure there will be added paperwork/costs involved in this case. I don't know all the details in this situation, but I have seen people here on VJ go through this process. I'd try searching the forums to find these people and possibly write them.

It was a limited edition for the Christmas season 1976. Apparently it came in a gift box w/ a fondue pot, Cheez Whiz, and six dozen Oreos. At least according to Joyce.
