Received AOS Interview Letter

Hi,

My wife just received her "Request for applicant to appear for initial interview" letter from USCIS. (For AOS)

I have a few questions about the list of things to bring. I was hoping someone would know:

The very first thing: Please bring with you this notice and your Government issued photo identification. They list as examples a driver's license or ID card. My wife doesn't have either (she didn't want to get them until they can be in her married name). Will her passport work? She has her EAD card, will that work?

Her EAD card is in her married name, so maybe that's better than her passport which is in her maiden name?

Also, it says "All documentation establishing your eligibility for lawful permanent resident status." Does that just mean "Bring your marriage license?" Of course, they ask for it specifically farther down the list....

In general, they ask for some documents (like birth certificates) 4 times, all in equally confusing ways. Its very strange.

Thanks for your Help!!

Ray

1) The EAD and passport should be fine. They want something to prove that you are you to security.

2) No it does not mean just bring your marrieg license. You need to bring documentation regarding the validity of your marriage and that the purpose of your marriage was not to circumvent immigration laws. Bring evidence of a shared life such as bank statements, credit card statements, letters to each of you from the same address, proof of being a beneficiary to each others assets, etc.

Basically we are taking copies of the AOS package that we filed and then the Originals of the documents involved in that filing e.g. passports, Birth certificate, Marriage certificate etc.; In addition we are taking documents establishing our 'living together' and pictures. Good Luck
