Medical...how much to say?

Hi,

I will have my medical in about 2 months, and I received packet 3 about 2 weeks ago.

Here are my concerns.

On the paper that you have to bring to the medical, it asks whether you have ever been to a hospital, say reason and name of the hospital.

About 4 years ago, my friend brought me to the hospital cause I had taken too many dafalgan ( like aspirin).

It was in another city, but still in Belgium.

Then about a year ago, I did an overdose of my current medication and fell on my head. My fiance brought me to the hospital. This was in another country.

None of those were *suicide attempts*.

But I am afraid the physician will see it like that and that it will mean my visa being denied.

I am ready to have a letter from my family physician to back me up and say that I am not a danger to myself or anyone.

My questions are:

Should I keep that a secret? Or tell the physician ?

How can they find out about stays in hospitals? Can they find it out even if you weren't in your home city or home country?

Please tell me what you think.

I wouldn't tell them.

If they have evidence, Just tell them it was long ago and you forgot.......

I would wait for more replies before you decide on a course of action. I personally am hesitant to tell someone not to divulge info that could affect their chances of getting a visa. Myself I would tell the truth and explain what happened. If you don't say anything and they have the info then it looks like you are hiding something. If you tell the truth the doctor will probably have you go through an evaluation asking questions. Others have had scars on arms and wrists and done the evaluation and had no problem. Giving false info is a dangerous risk to take. But that is just my opinion.

NEVER lie, of course they will find out! Just talk to your doctor, have him/her write you a letter stating you are not a danger to society. The Embassy doctor can always call your doctor too. There are ways, maybe it takes a little longer becasue its not 'straight forward' case.

That is what I think.

If you really believe you were not attempting suicide, then what is the worry? Your letter from your family doctor should be sufficient, if it becomes an issue.
