Kindly be advised that there is no passport requirement for asylum seekers in Nairobi, Kenya. In the event that your mother is issued a visa, it will be pasted on to a special form that is specified for these situation. Unfortunately, the government of Kenya does not issue passports to foreigners.

I received that email after I had inquired about my wife's situation in regards to not having a passport. I first sent an email to the NVC about the same inquiry and they told me that it is not up to them and that I should forward the question to the consulate in Nairobi, Kenya. I did just that and that's the reply I received.

So what is that mean? Is she not required to have a passport? Is she considered an asylum? Just want some clarifications.

So if you inquired about your wife, why does the e-mail mention your mother and seeking asylum? Could this have been sent to you in error or am I missing something?

Hm... I am not sure why they have "your mother" instead of "your wife". Could it be an error then? Possible. I guess I should call them.

It appears, they have mixed up your case somehow with someone else's.
