And people say Fox News is biased.

a day without a left winger beating up on fox news is a wasted day indeed.

I can't imagine going to another country and signing up for their military.

It does seem a bit strange.

A lot of Jews go to Israel and serve in volunteer units for a month or much more. Many who make Aliyah serve full military service

Rahn Emauel served in a civilian unit overseen by the IDF during the 1st gulf war

Emmett Fitz-Hume: I'm sorry I'm late, I had to attend the reading of a will. I had to stay till the very end, and I found out I received nothing... broke my arm.

This is nothing new. My brother in law got his U.S. citizenship this way. Thanks to the Stop-Loss policy though, they have essentially forced him into a military career.

Right - this has been SOP for years. Fast track citizenship for service. Most of the time it was real too.

Any news that's biased should be "beat up on" & Fox News is more bias than most. However both Univision & Fox have babes in short skirts so I tolerate them!

I think you're all reading too much into this topic or perhaps just misreading it. The military is looking for skilled individuals to fill critical vacancies, like interpreters. They also need to have relatively clean criminal records because they will have access to sensitive and/or secret information. Moreover with the crappy economy the military is meeting its recruiting goals in most areas, so they aren't looking for 11 bravos (not that 11 bravos aren't important, but its easier to recruit for them).

It's SOP for leftists judging by this issue.

You're right about the rest. Recruiting goals have been met since 2006 largely due to the economy than any greater slide in recruiting standards.

The military definitely lowered standards before 2006, probably in the 2002-2005 range. For example I believe you can join the Army at 42 now! I went thru basic training back when I was 17 & there's no way I could make it thru now. That means they are recruiting 40 yr olds in great shape or have lowered the standards (probably more of the latter).

"Since" means "after", in this case, 2006. The Army raised the enlistment age to 42 in 2006 http://usmilitary.about.com/od/armyjoin/a/enlage42.htm. I went through basic at 28 being the second oldest guy in my platoon. Younger guys were pissed that the PT standards were lower with age. They have to be if you want senior officers and NCOs held to some standard. Anyway, I told them youth was a greater asset than shaving a couple points off a PT score as far as a PT test goes.
