I agree :) I just received my smear test result yesterday and it turned our negative pero i still need to wait for 2 months for the culture result, available daw sya by april 15 but they told me to call on april 22. Sana maging nega din ung result ng culture kse there's an old guy there who told me that his 3 smear test turned out nega tapos slec called him after a week na meron daw nag grow na bacteria so he was under medication na agad and every month daw nag sputum test sya bale 2x a month. haynaku! sana naman mag nega ung result natin sis. goodluck sa atin :)

The answers you have gotten thus far are correct. In the past we have a few doctors who have wrote articles on this...i wish i could remember their names, and their sites. I am sure hey are still around..but yes what was said is corrrect. you will have to await a sputum result as to the culture being positive or negative. If positive, you will have to undergo treatment with antibiotics for a minimum of 6 months. There are several different strains

of Tb (Tuberculosis) This is a very big issue, and due to exposure, and compliance issues, it will require treatment by appropriate antibiotics pertaining to the particular strain of Tb. This medication is extremely potent, and often very toxic to the Liver, and may also require other Meds in conjunction with it such as Vitamin B. This is up to the Doctor, and is simply a requirement as it would also be here if you were to test positive. In the future it will require X Rays, blood tests, and perhaps further treatment if symptoms resurface. Unfortunately at this point, all you can do is await the results, the Doctors interpretation of those results, and their requirements in treatment following their diagnosis.

So best wishes, and hopefully others will reply who are doctors.

I am speaking only from experience here in the states, and past experience over seas. But cases do differ from one case to another as results, and past history permit. Some times a family history, or other things can effect the out come. All you can do is be hopeful, pray, and believe that they are doing what is best for you, and that they will resolve, and eliminate any issues that will disallow your loved one into the states. In fact...to find out, and diagnose a disease at the embassy point before being exposed your self, or others as has taken place on airplanes, and cruises in the past is a Godsend. You dont want you and your family exposed to something that in the long run could effect your whole family, and your future from a medical stand point. Medical bills resulting from a disease, or medical condition found when they reach the U.S. can be the difference between a successful relationship, and a failure from a financial stand point.

Think of this as a good thing, and be hopeful.

God Bless All Still Waitng, and Best Wishes.

your very welcome...and glad to help when ever possible.

I work for the hospital here, and we have so very many patients who have had that issue...including myself.

Even if you test positive...it is not the end of the world..and you will do fine.

Please remember..

Smile...and remembere..that after all this has passed...you will be here.

If you have any more questions...I am here, and VJ is where you will have many friends.

just to all of you undergoing the culture test, the longer they dont call you to nearing your date of results the better your chance are of being negative on the test...i actually called 10 days before my result date and got her results...hope this helps from a personal experience, so call early and try and get your results, worked for me...GL
