Hi fellow Filipinos:

My passport is about to expired in four weeks. Is it safe not to renew my Filipino passport?

Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Jenny

You don't need it again, unless you travel back to the Philippines as a Philippine Citizen. They are only good for five years, so if you are not going to use it, I would not worry.

Find the closest Filipino consulate and get it renewed. We did Claudeth's in L.A. Just make sure you take all your documentation, I am sure they will be wanting copies of some of them like the marriage license, any divorce papers, etc.

The problem with passport renewal is the personal appearance. For my 7-yr-old daughter, I can just send the application through mail but for my 12-yr-old son he has to go there in San Francisco :(

Their passports will expire this coming May.

It's the price we have to pay for security. That's all I can say.

id say it is very important to have a passport that is not expired if your living outside phil. for emergency purposes too. who knows you may "need" to go back to phil for some reason... although a personal appearance could be a hassle in our part... though if you have a US passport already or soon to acquire one, then it wouldnt be that bad since you can go in and out of the counrty... good luck!!!

God bless

Good Afternoon! I just wanted to ask about my expiring (green) philippine passport. Me and my husband planned to go home to the Philippines this coming march 3, 2012 and be back in the U.S. on the 18th of the same month. And we just got our roundtrip ticket lastnight. Now I just want to know if i will be able to return to the U.S. with my Philippine passport that will expire on June 13, 2012? I am holding a U.S Permanent Resident Card that will expire on May 17,2013.

Thank you

Yes. Philippines is fine. However, if you pass through some other countries, they will not accept the Green passport any longer.

Correct! now that you are here you wont need your passport except for Marriage or some other Government function. HOWEVER, if I were you I would renew my passport especially if you plan on traveling back to the Philippines. Good Luck!

If you do not have a Green Card it is a legal requirement.

You are all responding to a two year old thread.

You can't get a k-1 visa unless your passport is good for at least six months.

Actually they are responding to a current posting from today in this older thread. The current question fits this topic.

And this person is already in the States, has nothing to do with a K-1.
