Hi all,

I had my AOS interview on Dec 10th in Seattle. It seemed to go well, and the Officer told me that I'd hear back in 2-3 weeks. It's now been 10 weeks and I've not heard anything - the last touch of my case online was Dec 17th.

It seems from the Immigration Timelines section that other people interviewed in December have had their Greencards already. Is there anything I can do? Am I just being impatient? Before this, everything was proceeding quickly and fairly smoothly!

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Nick

You should have heard something by now. I would make a infopass at your local USCIS office and ask what is going on with your AOS.

I've just got off the phone with the USCIS helpline, which didn't tell me anything new apart from that Seattle's current processing time is Mar 29 2008, so I'm within the timeline.

Will InfoPass do me any good here, and if so which option for a reason do I pick - the website gives me these options, none of which exactly apply:

Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.

Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.

EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.

Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry.

Am I just being impatient? :)

There is no point in phoning the 1-800 line they are not USCIS officers they are a call center. Make an infopass appointment use any reason that will give you an appointment. it is coming up for 3 months since your interview. Most people have their greencard within 2 weeks of their interview.

Were you told you were approved at the interview? you say your last touch was Dec 17th have you changed address at anytime or have you had letters from USCIS returned to them as undeliverable? You need to find out if you have been approved and if so where is your greencard?

Do not wait another month or more.

Yeah, I just called to make sure I'd tried all the hoops.

I wasn't told I was approved or denied, just that we'd find out in 2-3 weeks. The officer seemed to be positive, though. I've not changed address and I'm pretty sure the mail should have been delivered okay. I'll schedule an appointment.

Hi savethispatient, first of all, I am so sorry you guys have to experience being in the dark, with no news after your AOS interview for 10 weeks, now that is very inhumane and very wrong in my opinion to make people wait that long to hear something. I am on the same boat as you guys are, it has been 16 days after my interview and we still havent heard anything about our decision. All we were told at the end of our interview was "if we need anything from you, we will notify you by mail", thats it nothing to work with or no decision was made. My wait doesnt compare to your wait time at all, but if I were you guys, I would make an infopass appointment and write your congressman about your situation to find out your decision and give you guys a peace of mind. You guys should have already of heard something from USCIS and should of already had your green card. I think this is totally unbelievable and an outrage that they would do this people. I think its totally messed up that many people get the verbal approval and get the emails hours after their interview and others have to wait like you, I and other people to hear a decision. The system is totally broken, and inconsistent. I would raise bloody hell, if I were you about this, and honestly it shouldnt take that long to make a decision on someones case. Good luck to you guys and I do believe you will win in the end and let us know what happens.

My InfoPass appointment is Tuesday, but my mum made an interesting point - we've not been married a whole year yet, so if I did receive a Green Card before Mar 21st, and it lasts only 2 years, then I still wouldn't have been married for 3 years when the 2-year GC expires.

Could it be that they're waiting until 1-year anniversary? Does anyone have any experience of receiving a GC too quickly :)

We also had our appointment in Seattle on December 10th. We obviously haven't been married a year yet either so don't worry about that.

Update from my InfoPass appointment... The USCIS officer in Seattle was very nice, friendly and reassuring, she told me that my application was being put through additional review, which happens sometimes. She basically said they're waiting on the FBI to get back to them, which can take 4-6 months, but I shouldn't worry. I have my EAD and AP already, so the wait isn't really a problem for me. She said that the Officers had been telling people 2-3 weeks, but that's the best case scenario, so there are others in the same boat as me.

I'm wondering whether they're waiting for our tax return to be filed, or something like that. My wife got promoted last year, so her income is going to be higher this year than it was in 2007, so I figure they might want to check that the info we put on the Affidavit of Support is correct. That's just my guess.

Anyway, I just have to be patient for a few more months. I should be used to this by now!

Any updates on your case?

I am in somewhat similar situation. I was told our case was approved but it's been 4 weeks and we have not received the approval letter or GC. We contacted the local office and was told that they are further reviewing our case. What does that mean?

Sometimes the FBI name check can take awhile. At least you know the green caed or an RFE was not lost in the mail.

Same here. We were told earlier this month that we are in background checks, so the GC decision will be made as soon as the checks clear.....whenever that will be.

Let's keep this thread open for those of us who have been jacked around and are playing the waiting game for the GC approval.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
