Hi again, with regards to the police certificate which I am sure a 'final caution' will show up on, will this affect my fiance at the interview? The caution was received when he was under the age of 18 and he was never convicted of the crime, I would prefer not to go into details but the crime was not drugs related but came after he assaulted another man for damaging his car. The police admitted that the crime was clearly caused by provocation and therefore decided to issue a 'final warning' as opposed to a criminal charge - but when this shows up on the police certificate should we anticipate any trouble?

I have brought this up before and received little in the way of help!! The details you may need, my fiance is male, he was under 18 at the time (3 years ago) and he lives in the UK. He will be applying for a UK police certificate. Thank you for reading!! Any advice is gladly accepted and greatly appreciated.

A caution is not a criminal conviction, so if you are asked whether you have any previous convictions you may say no. However, the police will retain records of your caution in the Police National Computer. This record will normally be stepped down after 5 years but will never be deleted.

Was he 17 or under when he was given the 'final caution'? As the guidlines for cautions and minors is different.

The information relating to his 'final caution' would be made available if you apply for jobs, professions or occupations that require you to disclose your criminal record, such as teacher, nurse, solicitor or prison officer, this will show not just details of convictions, but also of cautions, warnings or reprimands.

You may be better calling the ACPO helpline to ask the question. Or apply for the Police Certificate now and see what it lists.

He was 17 when he received the warning, so what does that mean for us? We are aware that the final warning will show up because he worked in a primary school for the last year, when it showed up on the CRB check he was asked to attend a formal interview to explain the situation and afterward they reviewed the case and decided that he was absolutely no threat to children (or anyone in that matter!) at all, so that may be a positive thing.

We're just worried that when he attends the interview this will come up and cause a whole host of problems!
