Wife was surprised when I purchased a can of private brand coffee, tried it, and took it back for a refund, in her country, once you purchased anything, even if it fell apart the day after, you were stuck with it.

Ha, she wanted an MP3 player, paid two hundred bucks for it, got it home, and you could turn that ring until you were blue in the face and it wouldn't scroll down, back to BestBuy. An 18 year kid behind the service counter, the electronics expert told me nothing was wrong with it and refused a refund, my cork popped and half the store could hear me. Wife was embarrassed, but got a full refund. At first they wanted to give me a gift certificate, you run into stuff like that once in awhile, but I got a full refund. A week later got a letter from the store manager with an apology and a gift certificate for 50 bucks.

I had to return her new laptop twice before we finally got a good one, but had to learn the date code, the entire shipment was bad.

Recently purchased a crib mobile for my granddaughter, Fisher-Price, good name, right, big smile on her face with the flashing lights, but the mobile wouldn't turn, took it back, second one did the same thing, took it back, the third one did the same thing, but opened up the gear box and found flashing on the plastic gears, cleaned that off and it finally worked. Wouldn't have done that if she didn't get such a big smile on her face, she really smiled when it finally turned.

Ha, after five years, my wife finally returned a blouse she purchased, was her correct size but didn't fit when she got it home, no problems, but she was shaking like a leaf at the refund desk.

Pricing is also different depending on the buying power of the store you're in. Wal Mart sells everything cheaper because they buy at learger volumes than most other stores, AND, they have a lot of manufacturers who make products the cheap Wal Mart way, or they negotiate contracts that force the manufacturers to sell their products to Wal Mart at lower prices. In some cases, the manufacturer is even losing money by doing business with Wal Mart.

So, you can buy a pair of Levi's jeans at Wal Mart for $20, but they're not the same as the Levi's at the Levi's stores. They're made with lower quality cotton and threads, and will not last you as long. So really, you end up spending more for the jeans at Wal Mart, because you have to buy them more often.

While I am getting used to this new life in US, I am observing a lot of things, one of the thing is that branded items may cost different at different stores.

Back in India we had MRP (maximum retail price) for each branded item and no store, let it be big or small can ask more than that. Say an Axe deo has MRP of 120 rupees, it will be the same price all over India at any given store (other than state taxes ).

In US its different, Axe deo in Walmart might cost $4.99 in Target it might be $5.99.

I am wondering how is it in other countries? How government distributes price system?

This subject goes to the root of why India is like it is (a s*!thole) and the USA is like it is (a few problems but better than just about everywhere else)

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
