Oh... Then I really am moving to the land of nutcases. THEY EAT THAT??? He claims it's really good. I like my Red River Cereal, kthnxbai.

March 13, 2009--Visa application handed to the post office.

March 16, 2009--Visa application received by Vermont Service Centre at 11:01 am. Let's hope that he actually put in everything he thought he did and they don't send it back to us!!

March 23, 2009--Got the whole package back. The cheque was apparently filled out incorrectly, thanks to the fact that his moronic flatmates helped him and instructed him wrong for the first cheque he ever filled out.

March 30, 2009--NOA1

August 12, 2009--Touched

September 1, 2009, received Package 1 from Montreal--but where is our NOA2???

It's not major in Texas, Kori's told me, but it's apparently the only hot cereal he eats. He enjoyed my Red River when he tried it--but I eat it with maple syrup and he wanted brown sugar, so he refused to try it again because it wasn't sweet enough. (he was sampling out of my bowl)

The thing that weirded me out the most about the grits wasn't the grits themselves but the packaging. They had a recipe on them for "quick cheese grits."

That included "processed cheese spread, cut into cubes." I was shocked to discover that you can buy a BLOCK OF CHEEZ WHIZ! EWWWWW. I thought it was a misprint at first.

I've eaten grits before. It's not a major food in Texas, which is good, since I didn't like grits. It tastes like lumpy wet sand.

Here in Philly people eat scrapple.... It's friggin nasty! It's like ground up pig insides or something, looks like barf.

Kori um... doesn't exactly have stellar cooking skills. Heh... He can um... Grill things? And he can peel and cut up vegetables, if you watch him carefully and make sure he knows exactly what size you want. But really, you're better off peeling and cutting up your own fruits and veggies. Peeling and cutting up 6 cups of apples for a pie took him around three hours--I had finished two lemon meringue and had the pastry rolled for the apple in that time--and I was moving slowly!

Is that where grits come from?

Kori tried to convince me to try some (he brought up a bunch for my Rover Advisor who used to live in the South) while he was up, but the little flakes and bits before it's cooked remind me of baby cereal, and that stuff's just GROSS. >.<

So did grits come from the corn surplus too? Cause they sure don't look like something a sane person would cook up. >.<

:o

Grits are GREAT, especially with either brown sugar or butter. I used to have that when I was in university in the south. I can only find the instant stuff out here now. :crying:

Woot!

Mike stopped at the BP gas station on his way home, he said he noticed something called Pepsi Throwback - so he checked out the ingredients and saw it had no HFCS or aspartame - so thought it must be good!

He is bringing 4 bottles home

And so the campaign against HFCS gains strength. lol

Woot!

Oh and the bottle doesn't look anything like the bottle above, I can't find a picture of it, but it kind of looks like this - dark label and blue lettering (just in case someone is looking for it).
