My hubby for Valentines Day found the only Timmy's in Indiana and drove us almost two hours to get donuts. The guy there thought I was nuts I was so Happy when I walked in and everything was the same as a Canadian Timmy's. I have found other places like McDonalds, or Subway tastes different have differences, but not my good old Timmy's. We ended up leaving with a dozen donuts, and a box of Timbits( that they call donut holes =/), and a couple cans of Hot Chocolate. It was the best V-day ever cause I was getting very homesick.

Timmys in RI isn't even close to tasting the same!! When visiting the inlaws rarely ever stop in. Will be surprised if they stay open, as they are never busy. Dunkin will be packed, and Timmys empty!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ex-Timmies Employee here.

Yes, the water quality DOES affect the coffee--there's one Tim Hortons in my town (still in Canada) that gets more business than ANY of the other 6 (or is it seven now...). It is also the only Timmies in the town on its own water system and not the town water system.

While the giant Bunn coffee makers *do* have filters in them, the filters may as well not be there for all the good they do. Especially if you have hard water (my whole area does, even if you're on town water), then the filters just cause the machines to break down.

They also make an "official" Tim Hortons coffee maker that supposedly makes coffee just like Timmies. This is not true. The "official" coffee maker heats the water to a slightly different temperature and that leads to a different tasting product. I wish I could remember what the temperature difference is, but I'm AWFUL with numbers. I just remember that it's different. Your best bet to replicate the flavour is to go out and buy the largest Bunn coffee maker you can afford and use Tim Hortons coffee in it. This will also often be cheaper as there is a HUGE markup for the "official" Tim Hortons name. According to something I was told by my boss (and she was a crazy drunk, so you may have to take this with a grain of salt) they use a different water temperature in the home pots on purpose so that people will continue to buy Tim Hortons at the source, where there's a greater profit.

BTW: The real reason why Tim Hortons decaf usually tastes so INCREDIBLY much worse than regular? They tell us to "cheat" the timing on the pot by putting the "take it off the element" time later. This is because not many people drink decaf. So when you get in there and ask for a decaf? Your coffee could have been sitting for up to an hour. I've worked at Tim Hortons in my hometown and in a large city four hours from here and they've told us the exact same thing.

March 13, 2009--Visa application handed to the post office.

March 16, 2009--Visa application received by Vermont Service Centre at 11:01 am. Let's hope that he actually put in everything he thought he did and they don't send it back to us!!

March 23, 2009--Got the whole package back. The cheque was apparently filled out incorrectly, thanks to the fact that his moronic flatmates helped him and instructed him wrong for the first cheque he ever filled out.

March 30, 2009--NOA1

August 12, 2009--Touched

September 1, 2009, received Package 1 from Montreal--but where is our NOA2???

I stopped at a Timmy's in Maine and asked for a extra large double double. the girl there asked me what that was, it so was not the Timmy's experience I was hoping for.

OMG......Obviously they need to do a Tim Horton Language Manual for the staff!

How Sweet!! My honey thinks we're all Tim Horton Nuts here in Nova Scotia when he first came to visit. By the 2nd trip, it was, "hey, aren't we stopping at Timmy's?"

My bro was a manager at Timmys and he always said that Timmy's coffee has just under the legal limit of caffeine in a drink for Canada.. and that the home brew stuff has less caffeine in it for the same reason, to make the home brew less addictive, and to keep people coming back into the store.

we have two Tim Hortons here in the city I live in...and the first time I had gone to one was while I was visiting my BF in Ottawa. I went to the one here and NO it doesn't taste anything like what I had in Ottawa.

You all (in canada) have as many Tim Hortons as we have Dunkin Donuts, I saw a sign up there for DD but that was on my way from Montreal to Ottawa..

I love trail mix cookies..I've had em by pepperidge(sp) Farms...but I will go try one of those..

Yes, there seems to be a Tim Horton's on every corner here in Rochester NY.

Moving this to the Canada Regional forum, More Canucks frequent that forum.

Is the coffee servered at Tims in the states as good as it is in Canada? I always find coffee in the states tastes awful.

Thanks

Its the same, I have visited TH down the street, and in Toronto.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Theres Timmy's everywhere in Columbus. Buddy went to one the other day when I told him about the new trailmix and he said they didn't have it :(

Number one difference I noticed was the large in Columbus was much bigger than the one in Toronto. Well, all the sizes were really but I got a large so I noticed that one the most :P
