Hello Guys,

My friend is so new to this so I am just helping out her out. She had attended her AOS interview on the 11th of February and just got a letter today stating that her petition for I130 has been approved. What does this mean ? Does it mean that she will get another approval for her green card or adjustment of status letter. We are just so confused as to her this works.

thanks for your help

If she filed the I-130 along with the AOS then she will get an approval letter for both applications. When the I-130 is filled at the same time as the AOS the I-130 is approved or denied at the same time as the AOS by the officer doing the interview.

tanyaru, just out of curiousity, are there ever instances where for example the 130 is approved but the 485 isn't?

Quick Update: Just 4 days after my friend received her approval for I130, her welcome letter arrives in the mail. So I would conclude therefore that an approval for I130 will often times lead to the I485 being approved also. Thank u all for ur responses.
