I just need your opinion fellow vjers cause my husband is really temted to hire an attorney for the adjustment of status.

Im thinking that it cause alot of money.

Is it really worth it to hire an attorney for our AOS?? or we can just do it and prepare it ourselves.

There is no reason why you should not be able to prepare it yourself.

If there is nothing to hide, I do not think you need to "waste" your money on an attorney.

I think the fee for the AOS itself is high enough.

If you completed the I-129 petition with no problems then the AOS process should be just as easy. Following VJ's guides and example forms makes the process easier.

If there are complications or it makes you feel secure then hiring an attorney can be worth the costs.

If your husband did not overstayed on his previous visas (if he did), there is no need to hire an attorney. Do not waste your money)))

I had the same question before filing the AOS, mainly because I was thinking I wouldn't have enough time to go thru the forms and i was concerned i would make a mistake. My friend had gone thru an attorney and spent couple of thousands of dollars, and his advice was, unless you got a complicated case, do a form a day, and you don't need a lawyer. So we went thru a form a week, and they were not as bad as I thought, and we sent the packet and so far, our AP got approved. So my thoughts to you, if you got a simple, black and white case, do it yourself, and come to the forums for questions and answers. Look at the sample forms, and take your time filling out the form. However, if you got complicated case, maybe you want to look at hiring a lawyer. Just to let you know, on my friend's insistence, we called a lawyer as we had a question about the ap, and she gave us the wrong answer.....so no need for a lawyer, when you got this forum.

We only hired attorney before when we were still in K1 processed coz we thought was a LOT more of process and not sure if what we need to do for the first step. But when i arrived and filed for adjustment after our wedding we didnt hire an attorney again, we just follow the guide instruction that my husband found here in VJ. Just do it very specificly so u wont confuse and forget anything. No pain and no waste of money for the attorney.

My husband was crazy about hiring a lawyer because we had some bumps on the road. Overall, my case had complications but I had nothing to hide. If you don't either then save your money.
