Suppose you have a job and need an employment letter to show for AOS. Or got a pension and need a pension letter stating what you're being compensated for and how much (this is us), are we required to send an original letter and if so, do they return this at the interview?

It is my understanding ao that originals given to NVC will be returned at the interview. Not sure what happens to originals given to USCIS.

I personally would be hesitant to send just a copy of the letter. It may create a problem with the signature on the letter being accepted due to it being a photocopy. But this is just my opinion AO_.

If you need to keep the Original, I would suggest that you request another copy from your employer and send the original with the AOS package (that is what I did). Also, some consulates/embassies require a notorized employment letter.
