Hello,

We went through the Accra embassy, as did a few others here. I'm not sure what to say about the medicals with the question being so general. If you ask a more specific question then I'll be able to help more. What stage of the process are you in?

My wife and our son will be going for the IR Visas soon. I was wondering about the fees at Akai and as to whether they need to call to book appointment. Thanks bro.

I don't think we used Akai except for the immunizations. If I remember correctly, we spent around $200 for the medical and for the immunizations. The fee is different for each person it seems. I'll ask Re when I get home as to exactly how much and which location he went to. People have had problems with Akai house sending their results to the consulate.

He didn't call to make any appointment, he just looked on the form as to the days that they took people being referred from the consulate, and then showed up in the morning. There was a line of people all there to do the same thing.

Kanyiri,

It seems I got no option than Akai since the other hospital does not administer shots. Oh! Boy!

Thanks for the info. Helps a lot.

You should have received a information paper stating which facilities you can go to from NVC. You will be dealing mainly with Akai House and Med-Labs. Since you are doing the IR visa, the Medical will be more expensive, than those that came on the Fiance' visa. The prices pretty much vary from person to person, its based off of who you know and if you put a little extra money on top they may move a litte faster. They will be going back and forth to get things done, you cannot get it all done on one day. Be prepared for it to take awhile they are quite slow getting the results, often times you may go to the Embassy and they don't have them yet from Med-Labs. The Medical processing added an extra few months on to the process. Hopefully, it will not delay you that much.

A follow up question to this thread: for the k-1 fiance visa, does my fiance (Ghanaian) need to get the vaccinations/immunizations BEFORE he receives his visa, or is this something he can do in the US during the AOS phase?

Thanks!

This is a more complicated question than you think. Technically, no, he does not need to have his immunizations until AOS. However, there have been many people going through the Ghanaian consulate who have been sent away because they didn't have their immunizations. This may have been the consulates way of drawing at straws to delay the process, but nevertheless it's better to give them fewer straws to draw.

Re got his immunizations - the majority of them - but I don't recall him ever being asked for proof that he had them done.

Thanks! Does anyone remember/know what the immunizations are? Osman already has the meningitis and yellow fever immunizations.

They give you a list when you get the packet from the consulate. Also when you go to the Akai clinic for the immunizations they have their own way of doing things and will go in the order that they have been instructed to go in, and are not very willing to change it.
