Hi Everyone,

I'm bringing my lovely wife over from China. My issue is: I'm a graduate student living on financial aid. I have a scholarship that pays for half of my tuition, but I finance everything else (rest of tuition, rent, food) with loans. Do I technically have an income at all? Is a scholarship considered income?

Any feedback would be hugely appreciated.

Good luck to everyone.

I think you will need a cosponsor.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

How about your last tax return? What did you report for income?

In any case, it is a good idea to line up a cosponsor; since most grad students do not make a lot of money, and graduate funding is also in a huge crisis nowadays.

Based on you financing your living expenses and half your tuition with debt instead of withdrawals from big bank account, yes, you will need a co-sponsor. Fortunately, this is generally accepted in Guangzhou. You would be wise to also visit http://www.candleforlove.com for more China specific support.
