How is that for irony. I hear the opposite. I guess it depends on where you come from.

For a lot of people the US is wealthy but for those from other first world countries, I believe the average Joe here is quite poor.

When I go home people usually give me ####### about living in such a "poverty stricken, run-down has-been country". Before anyone gets mad, don't shot the messenger.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

My wife's family does. It is so bad, my wife is afraid to open emails from her family, especially her mom. Her mom and dad have more pains than Carter has pills! Even distant relatives she has never heard of are asking for stuff.

 You're family must think you are a total failure.

My cousins do. :jest: My folks are trying to convince us to move back to AUS. If it wasn't for the dam visa process and the thought of having to go through it again, I probably would be back by now.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Considering the house prices in Melbourne only fell like 0.8% last year, I think the Aus economy will weather the financial storm again.

You are a naturalized citizen of the U.S. now?

Nah. Still waiting on the removal of conditions.

So then moving back to Oz should be a no brainer, yes?
