I been getting wifey into Shameless on The Sundance Channel here. I don't know why BBC America has showed the first series. It would of ruined it like they do with most shows.

I can't stand BBC America most of the time.

I also read that they going to be making a US Version of Shameless for HBO. An American Frank Gallagher? Whats with the remakes of UK shows? Are they really telling us US tv is that bad?

Whats with classic 70's and 80's shows being remade?

Knightrider on NBC?

Minder being remade on c5? I have the seen the first one and have the 2nd one to download. I just need to find a relaxing moment to watch it.

Anyone got any views on US UK TV?

Just a quick input, theres no way that the American public will understand Frank Gallagher and the rest of the programme (no offence in any way to the american public) but its just true. Im from Manchester and i love Shameless, i dont think it would be as appreciated over there as it should be. its a quality tv show and im watching it as im writing this message, ha.

On the subject of an american Shameless, im sure that would be interesting and worth watching, but im sure it wouldnt compare to the UK version, not by a long shot.

Im not in the US yet but have seen the bbc channel over there, they dont show much programmes on that, although i know top gear is shown on the odd occasion, another top programme i will miss alot. So what programmes do you get to watch over there that are aired here in the UK?

Oh and on the Minder subject and the remakes, theyre never as good as the original bad boys, they never are so i dont give them a chance. So theres my input :)

My american husband LOVES Shameless... he is the one who seeks to download it from the internet ! ... I got the first series via Netflix ( which provided subtitles) after that he was hooked! .... he agrees that it would never find its way onto "normal" tv channels over here but thinks it is well worth the effort to get to know what things like "giro" etc translate to in US terms... he needed a little help with some of the language but since then he has been hooked.... I think it will depend on the american watching it as to wether they "get it".

I am constantly suprised by the efforts to translate programmes into US versions - recently they tried Life on Mars but not sure how it was received.

My American wife loves Shameless thanks to Sundance Channel and her living with me.

She likes Mrs Bucket and has done for years.

Im a bit of an 80s tv fan. I have got her into Ever Decreasing Circles if anyone remembers that show?

And one of my favs Watching that used to be on ITV. I have all the above on DVD.

BBC America is put together by the same team who showed Evertons goal on tv. Its amateur.

Top Gear is edited really bad so we only get 45 mins worth. The editing was bad last night

They show the same old ####### again and again. How clean is your house, Gordon Ramseys Kitchen Knightmares and You are what you eat. Have been shown 10000000000s of times.

They have about 10 episodes of Bargain Hunt and Cash in The Attic and they must pick them from a bin cause its almost the same ones on day in and day out.

We like Life on Mars. We've watched both versions. Still watching US version. Nick says the premise is good so it works for him in both countries. He said the American cops, American events of the 70s, and the music are suited to the American audience. British police differences would be unfamiliar and not play as well.

Now I've got to tell you about a show you future immigrants will like. Homeland Security USA

You get to see CBP, Border Patrol, and ICE in action at various airports, border crossings from Mexico and Canada, and tracking down illegals by helicopter at night. It's clips of day to day life as a CBP agent and the outlandish things people try to get away with. Pretty interesting how they rip apart cars transporting illegal drugs from Mexico to find the stash. Tonight they found 199 kilo packages of marijuana hidden in a SUV. Dogs sniffed out the drugs. Having a new interest in immigration does make the show more interesting to me. You get a sense of the "gut feeling" that the officers have that something just isn't right and they types of questions they ask at airports and why.

I believe they once tried to show an American version of Red Dwarf and it went down like a lead balloon. Funny cos Tom absoloutely loves Red Dwarf, I didn't think he would 'get it' but now it's his favourite show.

Nich, I love shows like Border Patrol and Emergency Hospital (Aussie shows) so I'll probably be glued to those sort of programmes when I get to the US.

ITV 4 are currently re-running the original 1984 series of Auf Wiedersehn Pet, quite simply the greatest TV show ever created. I wonder how Oz & co would go down in the US!!?? Seriously, it'd have to be subtitled!!! Maybe they could get Nicky McMillian to translate, as he's from that neck of the woods!!!

Last night's episode was the classic (but then they all are) where Dennis tries to have a quiet weekend on the sly with Dagmar, but Wayne and Barry #### it up for them after being set up by Oz!! And during the episode, Oz starts running his mouth off in the bar about what he'd like to do to Dagmar, not knowing that Dennis is seeing her:

"I'd hump that Dagmar.....she looks nice in her bikini. Big bristols, nice strang thighs........":rofl::rofl:

I wonder if an American Auf Pet would work? Nah, can't see it somehow.
