LMAO Philly, of all things to bring!

Welcome Covergirl - I would suggest that you seek out Jamaica Jewel - she's not on here, but she posts on Negril.com - she's an American who married a Jamaican and they opened a guest house in Duncan's Bay - she might have some good insights for you.

Here is her website:

Hi all,

Thanks Marie for reaching out to me! I don't know what Part 13 is, guess I missed 1-12, but how 'bout a quick intro of myself....

I'm Sam, and just married my Rasta man, Talbert, on Jan. 19th. Seemed to take forever to get the marriage cert, but it finally arrived last week and our 130 was delivered to the lockbox. From what I've been reading, now the waiting and anxiety begin! It'll be great to have others around who totally relate to this experience. Is anyone out there in the Phoenix, AZ area???

I'm already nervous, knowing we have circumstances that in the eye of immigration is sure to look suspect. We can only have faith in our love and hope it comes through in the paper work.

Question for ya... how do you guys get the cute little counters and timelines in your signatures>>

Well, I think I'll go through some of this thread and see if I can get caught up on parts 1-12. :D

Hey:

Congrats Philly!!!

Over time I have heard ppl say they stay in JA for like 6wks at a time. But when I go they only give me 30 days when immigration stamps my passport. Question: How do you get them to give you a longer stay? I have been reading on travel.state.gov website and it said something like you can get entry into a country for up to 6mos but its up to the discretion (sp?) of the customs officer. So is there a way you can request a longer visit when you arrive or do you have to give them some long story about why you need to stay more than 30days? Any insight, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Whoah yall been busy today had to catchup about 12 pages deep LOL I'm rolling at all of the rice cooking experiences. It definitely is a craft, I'm with Island I love using the rice steamer it comes out perfect, but I will do it the old fashioned way if I have too 2 cups rice 4 cups water.

Shanette, I always recv a 6 mos stamp no matter what my ticket says, maybe its because I have been traveling home since a child but they definitely study the PC screen before they stamp the passport....

Sus

I'm almost packed why do I have 2 big suitcases :bonk: for 5 days?? go figure one of them has a 20 lb bag of rice in it

Welcome back Honey LOL @ you and the hill!

I know Cher & Barry G., the owners of Jamaica Jewel. In fact, they were at our wedding and their place is walking distance from where we stay! Good people! I'll be in Jamaica from 3/25-3/31, can't wait!

anyone know how Walkerswood escoveitch( sp?) sauce taste? and if so where i can order it from?

Honey, don't search for it - it is so so so so so so hot that it is inedible! I love escovitch, so I was psyched when I saw the bottled sauce - I like spicy foods but I couldn't even eat that!!

Welcome Sam and Rasta, Welcome Thompson, Hi Journee, how are you?

Two more days of work y'all!!
