This morning as I was driving to work I was listening to talk radio and the topic was "leave fat people alone", and people would call in and discuss how they hated on fat kids in school and it is the same with foreigners. I really started to get angry because what if that was Ryon being mistreated - I know now that I have a greater respect for different cultures and a high appreciation for people who do not look like me.

So to end the lost spring break week, Trevor and I checked into a hotel and just hung out like the old days when he was 7 years old.

OMG! That is the best idea. Renting a room for the weekend. I think I will do that with Jah for her spring break. She can go swimmimg with her new favorite person, my hubby and I can chill and watch tv.:dance::dance:

BTW! Thanks for the quote about people from different cultures. I have always felt different. I did not fit in at home in Ghana bcos I was not born there (born in Germany), I do not fit in here because I have a "Jamaican accent" (everyone assumes I am from the Islands). I have not gone one day in my lifetime without one person asking me where I am from, regardless of what country I am visiting. Anyway, all I want to say is that people are people are people. Just let us be. I tell my daughter all the time that if you meet someone with a foreign accent--they speak one more language than you do and also understand your language.:unsure: I am sorry to get on a soap box. This is a sore subject for me.

Thanks for the support....ask away....I have just as many questions......lol.....got a lot to do to make it happen!!!

Couple things....I don't remember whether you're married yet?

If you aren't, you need to apply for a work permit...

Also, are you preparing for the possibility that you DON'T get a job while you're in Jamaica??

If you have budgeted for that, then you're good!!

Have you thought about management positions in the hotels?? They pay fairly well and the conditions are pretty good!!

I seem to remember you saying you had a friend who would say you have a job waiting when you come back, but just making sure you know you'll need a SPONSOR willing to show and sign an affidavit of support for your husband agreeing to support him for the next 10 years...Also they have to show they have enough to support themselves, any dependents and you and your husband.

Apart from that, I think it's a WONDERFUL idea, there is NOTHING better than spending this kind of non-holiday time with him....best of luck!!!

no problem...The rates vary by what you want and where you want it. The house I am considering ...he was originally asking $2800ja but my friend talked him down to $2500..so depending on the exchange rate I figure $260-75... It is a fully furnished and equiped 2 bedroom house in Hopewell...in a small little town on the top of the hill called Bamboo. 15 minutes outside of Mobay on the way to Negril. Kinda on the high side from what I have been told but according to my friend it is nicer than any hotel she has ever seen and she used to work at Negril Escape! She will be heading back to the states this week and has pictures of it for me. It is on the opposite side of the island to where Michael lives now....as he is in Port Antonio but we both love the area and he is way way way ready to leave that side as he feels his x-friends are hating on him and giving him "troubles". Just the other day he was all upset because his name was on the road.....he doesn't hang out much at all now and people are talking bout him and his "white wife" and how he don't want to hang with them....lol, He realized he was the one always buying drinks for everyone and says now he has responsibilities......

Our friend is helping him look for work on that side and I am in the process of contacting a couple US companies that have call centers in the freezone in Mobay for customer service jobs.

M - Hopewell is a nice area. A's aunt is moving there this month - when I'm there I take the kids to the Hopewell beach, where the old shipwreck is.

Good afternoon ladies.

Big A$$ SIGH

I wanna go back to Jamaica. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

Glad you and Trevor had fun, this weekend.. i took my sons to see Monsters vs Aliens which was really good and really cute, until my teenager started calling me Galaxar which was one of the aliens in the movie.. since he knows im self conscious about my hair, my cornrows seem to accentuate my HEAD so he has been all jokes for the past two days.

LOL, that is so true, i had my hair braided once, i developed a forhead complex, i never knew my head was weird until the cornrows!

Hey Rox! How are u today?

Hi, Mrs. Palmer, I am doing a little better this week. I booked a girlfriend trip to the Virgin Island for the 1st week of May. I told them I would rather be in Jamaica, but no one is listerning to me.

I know exactly what your going through....Mines won't go no where near JA which really upsets me...

Dada...how come your girls won't go near Ja? Have they been b4 and didn't like it? My friends & family can't wait to get back--my friends especially, always want to try and get back down there. I am going to try and have a small celebration for my husband's 30th birthday in August, and a few of them want to go.

I have no idea why I think part of it is jealousy actually. See I met my SO and my new found Dallas friends (Quana included) in July 07. Since then my life has been different. I am attached to my Dallas girls and of course my SO too. Here in Pittsburgh were aren’t as friendly as the Dallas girls were to me. Hecks they were determined to get me to talk to them and I was so reluctant but now I'm stuck like glue to them and of course my SO. We'll they don’t understand my whole falling for a Jamaican thing and they think I'm crazy but instead of trying to understand it and get to know about it they just down talk it all the time. They say the never had an interest to go blah blah blah. I just celebrated my birthday there in Feb and they still wouldn’t go with me and you would think they would plan a trip there so they can meet him but yet they plan one to PR. It makes me wonder we have always done everything to together but now are we starting to grow apart? I'm still undecided if I plan on joining them or not. All I keep thinking is that will be vacation days taken away from my JA trips. Sick I know but its the truth..

Hey Jamerican--if u don't mind my asking, how much does it cost to rent a home down there? In US currency?

Morning all..(waving)..sorry to hear some of you got snow....it was 77 degree's here yesterday and supposed to be just as nice today. The last few days have been lifechanging as I did make my decision to work towards moving to jamaica for 6-12 months. I was just at the point of starting the 1 year Massage program...(starts today) and was feeling torn and missing Michael like crazy....my job situation became less stable..thus the Visa Journey was looking a bit shakey...so, I mentioned to a friend in JA to look in her Yaad for a nice house to rent (Michael has a 1 bedroom) and she called the next day saying she was standing in MY HOUSE! Sooooooo I thought, and prayed, and asked peoples opinions.....I even had my taro cards read!!!! August 13th is the tentative date....I told my kids and my mom....My daughter (9) was way way too happy because she is a mini-me. My son (15)...not too happy and I have given him the chance to stay here with granny since he wasn't too crazy about JA from the last time I took him. My mom......well, didn't yall feel the earth move friday evening...cause she wasn't too happy about my news. Anyway....had my first sale of many on saturday....it was real last minute and only told friends and family....had 3 people show :( but got one month of rent put away!!!!Wish me luck yall' now off to get my brakes done......

Wow this sounds so amazing and you are stepping out on faith so what can go wrong with that..

jAMERICAN, i have so many questions, but more importantly - i am proud of you and your choice. this will change your life....

Thanks for the support....ask away....I have just as many questions......lol.....got a lot to do to make it happen!!!

Jamerican that is a great price! Everything seems to be working in your favor that home is for YOU! Claim with the power of the spoken word. I agree that this is fabulous and you are stepping out on faith, I now you have given it a lot of thought and it appears that you are being divinely guided. Many Blessings on your journey sista
