Hard to say...

Wedding packages here start at $1000, but if you were say in the rural areas it could cost much less...I guess if you LOVE their stuff, it would be worth it to you for the most special day of your life right??

I am also looking at the fact they give you a copyright free CD which the vast majority of photographers will not - hell I don't!

Again, if you like DVD shows, it may very well be worth it because they include that in the package..

Now, the cost will be reasonable/high depending what others charge and what their standard of photgraphy is, I have seen another photographer, Misha, who operates out of Negril and I actually prefer her stuff. She is also cheaper, but doesn't seem to do the slideshows etc or travel....

The final answer I guess is that if YOU think it's worth it, it therefore is

I am charging a LOT less than they are at the moment for Jamaica weddings for various reasons, one being that I need more weddings in my portfolio to showcase what I can do, but once I have 20 or so, mine will probably start at about $1000 or so...

After seeing the beautiful slide shows by Sungold I emailed them asking about doing an engagement shoot. Here are some prices they gave me for wedding and engagement packages. I didn't know if anyone was interested in seeing the actual prices.

Wow! SG prices really are up there. I am so disappointed. I have already decided that I want to book them for our wedding. I am even willing to work with their schedule though my heart is set on a date. I really like their work still, I can’t see paying $5500.

The good thing though is that it looks like you can piece together a package with the associate photographer for half the price and their work looks just as good. I know that we will only need the 5hr session. (If we were having it here, this is what we would have chosen anyway.) Then we could also book the 3hr session for another day, maybe before (perhaps an engagement shoot) or after the wedding. The main attraction with SG is the slideshow DVD set to music, but they are easy to make. Anyone could create one if you have a computer and the capable software which runs about $59.99. Since they supply a copyright free version of your photo’s this should be quite simple to do. I will just have to make sure to sinc the song we want, purchase the CD/DVD slideshow creator software and some writable DVDs. This way his mom, sisters, brother, aunts, cousins and my mom and family can all get a DVD and it won’t cost us really anything much beyond our budget.

With this we’re looking at $2600, which is much better than the $5500 or $4800 since our photographer/videographer budget was $2500. But if it was at JaEnglish prices, I would be much more willing to spread the word for business. Now I’ll just tell people get a cheaper photographer and create your own DVD.

Does anyone else plan to buy a new mattress when their SO moves in? I'm thinking to get a new mattress right before Steven arrives so that he'll be the only man to have ever slept on it. I might finally spring for the Tempurpedic that I've wanted since I was young.

Hmmmmmmm, lemme tell you something about he tempurpedic. We have one. Lovely for sleeping.

HOWEVER, not good for other things (to me). Its like making whoopee in the sand. No bounce, you just sink in. Moving around takes three times the effort, if you know what I mean! A lot of work, with no help from the bed. Now girls, I know I am a lazy ######, but I like the spring of springs. I don't know. I never would have even thought about it, but now that I know, I will never get another one.

Oh. I never thought/knew about that aspect of it. I'll have to do some research.

Make sure if you're going to use their associate photographer that you see some of his/her work!!

And if you can, try and haggle, I can't see them turning down a wedding in these times!!!

And yes, the slide shows are incredibly easy to make, what's important is the PHOTOS!!

I would take the smallest package and with the money you're saving maybe even get ANOTHER photographer to shoot the reception...

Since we're on the topic of arguments...

I WISH we argued more. Instead, whenever I try to have a discussion where we disagree on something, which Steven calls an argument, I tend to speak calmly & logically. He, though, acts like I'm breaking his heart by being displeased with something, and he immediately claims all blame and apologizes profusely. I'm like, it doesn't MATTER who is at fault. Let's get to the root of the issue. Therefore, I care less about hearing (or saying) "I'm sorry." I rather get to the root of the issue so we can grow in understanding of each other. But he's more into apologizing than understanding.

I think that will change as time goes on.

Michael is the same way....whenever I have an issue that is bothering me or when I voice my opinion about a situation he feels like we are arguing and starts saying he doesn't like it when I am mad or upset...which then makes me mad because I wasn't before.... UGHHHH...I know like you said this will change in time as I keep telling him that he better get used to me telling him how I feel about things and it will not always be flowers and sunshine....but I am not MAD when we discuss issues.....just want him to be aware of my opinion on things....does that make sense????
