OK yall, I am at working graveyard and on the westcoast so on here by myself....but I know yall early risers (sus) will be on shortly so check out my newest delima. I am missing My Hubby like crazy and am debating moving to JA for the next year. We have an option on a rental home that is located in a perfect spot on the lane of my good friend (the photographer) and her man....They are trying to link up work for us both (Mike would have to move)... There are so many more details to the story but just wondering if anyone has ever considered doing so....or know of anyone who has and how that affects the process aside from the obvious... I have to make the decision this week so my head is spinning with so many options/possibilities/problems/experiences....

If you do decide to stay I recommend saving as much as you can now. Staying there long term is not cheap. I stayed with my husband years ago (he was working full time, and since I didn't have a work permit I could not work) but I cashed out my savings and we managed. Times definitely got hard but we worked through them.

Think about how long you want to stay and consider the area you'll be staying in. You'll only be able to do 6 months at a time (legally) unless you get married. Will you be bringing your children? If you are then check out the schools and this will be another expense (uniforms/books/shoes/etc). I don't regret doing it, because he and I really got to know one another while I was there. If you have any questions feel free to pm me also. Good luck in your decision.

Morning all! I am getting ready to head to a training class all day, so I won't be online

Jamerican - I had thought about it - But I know that right now, I can't do it - the things that scare me about living there year round would be

Hurricanes

Medical care

Corruption

Eye for an Eye justice

Not being able to afford to fly home at the drop of a dime if I needed to

Living here, I know that we could fly back to JA in a second if we were needed - we are both close with our families, and discussed this ALOT - and decided that the best option was for us to be in the US.

You also have to factor in your kids, your house here, if at some point you decided to move to the US, you would still need the income requirement to petition for Michael -

Sus when I stayed there I bought a RT ticket and extended it twice  at immigration I got a 6 month stamp so it was all good.

Jonesie....I will be getting in touch with you .... I am really wanting to spend that time "not just on vacation" with my husband living day to day before he comes here. I think it will help me understand his adjustment even better and also because my employment situation is that where I can without loosing too much. Thanks for your input also

And what about a job when you come back then? Will there still be one here for you?

I am a jill of all trades so you name it I have done it.....don't feel that I will have a problem gettin a job on the return. I have a friend who runs her own business and she has employeed me in the past and will write a letter for me stating I have a job upon return as not to mess up the Journey......

I agree that was so sweet. So May is a surprise too right? Why do you think customs stopped you too many visits??LOL

Yup! That's the one where I'll throw him a surprise bday party.

And I guess it's the # of visits. This was visit #7 since Nov 2007. UNlucky #7.

Nat, are you the one who has been to The Gambia?

Yup, spent 3 weeks there and still have the man I met there emailing me a zillion times a week to prove it. Even after I told him I'm engaged, he keeps asking when I'm coming back and professing his undying love. Mind you, I hung out with him for a month FIVE YEARS AGO. A few months ago, I quit responding completely, but that didn't stop the emails from coming.

Uh oh my number 7 will be in May.. Yikes...lol

Wow!! They will find a way to everything.

Wow Shemmy exciting. I wonder how many who go to get a visitors visa actually get them.

I have no idea how he got one....someone was in a good mood at the Embassy. A 22 year-old single man with no real ties back to JA got a 10 year visitors visa. I called my friend in visa services to verify...it's true.

Dillon - when is Mr coming? And when is the wedding?

He must have friends in high places - he's a lucky man.

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast
