Roxie - I do miss Jamaica. I would love to visit Ocho Rios again.

KK, when I'm in JA, if Joel isn't able to entertain me or I want to go somewhere that he isn't interested in going, he will arrange for someone that he trust to go with or hang out with me. It's usually a good friend of his or a family member and they are happy to hang. So don't let the idea that you will be lonely stop you from going back to Ja with him.

You're right.

Afternoon Yardies!

Catching up now....

OK everyone....

MY HUBBY IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to stop by and let everyone know he came in yesterday. Surprised the mess out of me.. almost had a (L) attact, lol. OK.. i'll get back on in a day or two! Hope everyone is having a GREAT weekend!!

Hey Mrs Buggy, any word yet? you got me all anxious and ish like its my man lol

Yes girl.. he finally made it!! Words can't explain how I'm feeling right about now... cuz excited is sort of an understatement! LOL Talk to you soon!!

CONGRATS MRSBUGGY! :dance::thumbs:

Wow. If you were to look at my albums from Jamaica on FB, you'll see me sporting the same clothes over & over again. And you will rarely catch me with a manicure or pedicure or salon-done hair. Fortunately the men in my life have not been ones to care about those things.

I do shave & get the eyebrows waxed before each trip, though. I can't do too much, cause Steven needs to know from the get-go that I'm cheap.

That story about waking up to beautify yourself reminded me of A Different World. Whitley did that for a while after she & Dwayne got married, but it didn't last long.

I'm the same way Nat! Same clothes but I mix & match the separates so hopefully I look a little different each day.

Hey JA , girl I am so darn sleepy!

Are you almost packed I have half a suitcase packed LOL I need to get on my hustle. I can't decide between 20 inch Spanish wave or 20 inch Yaki LOL. My Hubby had me rolling last night told me I was not going to church for the interview so why am I wearing a dress and stilettos? Girl he is sick of me and told me he is still wearing his tight jeans and pointy toe shoes LOL

Where is Quanna???

:rofl::no:

Quana Quana Quana weh yuh dey??? Whooooo boy do I remember these days. It was crazy!!! I thought I lost my mind when I met a man in July for one day just one day and came back home acting like it was my first hit of crack. Whoooo I used to sit up all night and ponder how on earth could I miss someone so bad that I barely knew?? Like how??? Good thing I had Quana to talk to. She just doesn’t know how much of a lifesaver she was for me. See we have a likkle group of six girls and we e-mail each other all day long what's going on in our lives etc.. So I used to e-mail Quana on the side cuz I knew she met someone there also. I was like Quana I think I’ve gone mad I really miss this boy. Quana was missing hers just as much too so we decided to go back together and see them. So we were going to JA together and then all of a sudden hers moved to the Bahamas.. So I was scared do I continue on by myself or cancel the trip. Well after missing him I was like I’m going but I guess I’ll stay in a hotel. So then my SO was like why don’t you just save the money and stay wid me. Huh?? Excuse me?? I don’t know you. So after some coaching I caved in but then I w as worried. I heard so many horror stories about them not having hot water, and sometimes sharing rooms, his bathroom could be outside and then the area he lives in is not the best and ugh the stories. I think I got on my SO nerves so bad he was like you know what Dada stay in a hotel then. I did end up staying with him and let me tell you I think I’ll never want to stay at a resort again but back to the story.. So the trip comes and I pray to God to bring me back home and off I went. When you think about it how crazy was I to go and stay with a man in another country that I only met once. The things we will do. Well till this day that trip was one of the best tips I have ever taken in my entire life!!! LMAO man when I think about how when it was time to go I didn’t want to go. I almost broke my SO’s neck holding on to him so tight and then his eyes were misty and so were mine and I tell you I was a minute away from saying freak it all I’m not going back but then reality hit me and I got my rass on that plane. I cried the WHOLE way and I mean the WHOLE way home. I’m sure the people on the plane thought I was mad in the head… When I arrived back home the pain from missing him was almost unbearable I mean it really hurt. I would come to work all depressed and just acting like I wanted to give up on life. But as time goes on eventually the pain gets a little more bearable and you’ll be o.k. See you’ll have your good days and bad days. Some days you’ll be o.k. and others you’ll be like a three year old ready to have a temper tantrum on the floor kicking and screaming. It helps if you have a supportive friend or family member that doesn’t mind you talking bout him 50 times a day. I know some days I call my SO just to hear his voice. It’s like just the sound of his voice makes everything o.k. Its rough it’s soo very rough so no need in sugar coating it but this too shall past. Just think he soon come!!!

You are definitely not alone! I think many of us have done the visit after only meeting once before wondering if we were insane AND had the teary goodbyes that lasted the whole way home. I know one trip I cried all the way while boarding the plane and a little once I got home too. I saw these happy families reuniting after one of the spouses returned and felt so sorry for myself that I was going home ALONE!

Good Morning:

Okay yall WE DID IT!!!! I'ZZZ MARRIED

YAY NETTE! YOUS A MISSUS NOW! (L)(F)

thats funny @ Dada. Quana, knows i have issues as well...LOL.. when i went to JA for the first time alone my friends were all like OMG< its so dangerous, blah blah, im like WHA??? i knew i was taking a risk, but i prayed about it, asked god for traveling grace and never looked back. Now a year later, we are still going strong, yes he works my nerves and i work HIS im sure of that, but i wouldnt trade this experience for anything as of yet!!! of course i have my days when i wake up and SAY DAMMIT i absolutely cannot do this one more day, its funny how you say about staying in the yard, i had my concerns initially as well, but hell now i can take a cold shower with the best of em, one limb at a time, i soap up one part, stick it under the water, rinse it, do the other limb, until all limbs are cleaned and then i jump in full torso, scream until the soap comes off and then jump out...LOL

Only issues we have is im a bit OCD, like i dont like people drinking behind me, and vice versa, me and mr were out eating and i had a champagne cola, my fav well i must have set it down and he picked it up and took a swig, i was like  what the hell he do that for??? he was like you dont want anymore soda, im like  i havent told him im OCD like that yet...LOL...

...though honestly, considering he has seen all the nooks and crannies i shouldnt trip, but i dont even drink behind my kids and dont want them drinking behind me

 You're cracking me up with the shower business.....of course, I do the same thing....just yell out until it's over!

But we would gross you out because practically the only thing we DON'T share is toothbrushes!

My SO hasn’t really stressed a interest to come. He is so scared of the unknown. We talk about it and in time we will do the process I believe. I’m thinking maybe next year we might get the ball rolling. Sometimes I get scared. He has so many goals and plans for JA he might not ever leave. He’s looking into how to buy a house and start his own business I'm like umm sweetie do you plan on leaving??

I tell you what, if my man had all those big plans and could make a decent, secure life there, I'd probably go there! I just know that for us now, it'll be better for us to be here, work and save some money so we can build a house that can withstand hurricanes. In the future when we are building a house and can stay in it, I imagine trying to live there a good portion of the year....we'll see what happens.....

The cold shower part had me screaming!!!!! Ugh do I memba dat!!! He was like sweetie yuh know I don’t have hot water I was like what!!! I think I hung up the phone like he has go to be out his mind!! So the first time I did the same thing soap up and I was talking to myself like just do it just do it. I think he called in the bathroom like are you o.k. who yuh chatting to?? I was like no one.. So then I just went under the wata and man did I scream. He was laughing so hard but you know what's funny its like pool water after you have been in it so long it starts to feel good its that initial shock. Now when I go in the summer months its easy cause its so darn hot but in Oct- Feb its a little more harder to bear. But mi too I'm a cold shower taking pro but every time I step in his bathroom I look at the shower like yep I' back its me and you again...

Den the crickets. The first time at his yaad the crickets almost drove me batty and then his neighbor woke up extra early playing her music and then the workers outside working on the houses I wanted to scream, ”Does anyone sleep around here??” But then I would open that door and look at the country and just think man this is so beautiful.

Me and my SO argue all the time and we have has some challenges but at the end of the day Were still together…

Hey at least you have a bathroom! We do outdoor showers behind a partially enclosed area looking out to the hills. It's actually really nice but there are times I'd be so grateful to have a real indoor bathroom. I love the tree frogs and crickets....I sleep like a baby with all that 'white noise'. We have neighbors that start the gospel music blasting on Sunday mornings. Sometimes when we've been out late it's annoying but overall, I just love it....it wouldn't be Jamaica without our neighbor singing to her gospel while doing her morning chores! Plus, it's so easy to take naps there that I don't mind the noise most of the time.....of course, I could do without my SOs uncle 'bumbaclaating' all night long cause he drank too much rum! :bonk::wacko::lol:

Ells - Talking about crying. The first time I went back was with a college friend. We didn't spend too much time together while there but we had the same flight back. She came up to me and I was bawling. I never cry...she was like Kim...what's wrong. I couldn't even get the words out. I was soooo sad. Man, I don't miss those days. So thankful to God that hubby is here.

wha shemmy.. i like that saying.. just keep swimming..its so true.. Disney movies are my therapy sometimes LOL

kk.. i went to nassau.. so i guess just like JA, the parts u go to depends on ur experience..nassau is nice.. the weather is unique in that u can have the humidity of JA, but they have these winds that make me feel like i am in a 80's video LOL.. i just want a whole bunch of weave in my hair to let it flow LOL.. the water is BEAUTIFUL.. it so clear u can see right thru it, but altho we had temps in 70 and 80, the water in jan was like 40!!! lol def don't go then LOL

the times i went i was w/ RG so i didn't catch a big party scene or loudness (which i really miss).. so i guess its more quiet than JA to me..the TRAFFIC tho GOSH!! JA has a down home flavor to me, like u never meet a stranger.. bahamas didn't give me that vibe..

if affordability is a requirement.. nassau is comparable to JA.. i want to hit the Virgin Islands, and some of the other isles, but prices are $600 and up for flight alone.. the bahamas and JA have been the cheapest ive found..

Well, fortunately he has a streetlight at the top of his yard so that does add some light where we don't have to have a flashlight. Usually we just bathe before it gets too dark out though.

YAY! I just bought my ticket to see Habib Koite & Bamada at the Zellerbach Auditorium in Berkeley on Friday!:dance: It's sad though that I don't have any friends interested in seeing it so I have to go alone. :crying: When my honey gets here, I'm gonna drag him around to all of this stuff!

That's true! We've done that before so long as there is moonlight to do it by. :star:
