LOL Dada I @ the airport wardrobe change thats too funny. My Husband realized after our 1st meeting I was a Diva and he knew I was a handful LOL. I just came back from a weekend visit a few weeks back and had 2 large suitcases and a big LV duffel carryon you would think I was staying for a month. At least one was full of food LOL but a Fashionista always has to be prepared "Wink" Even though Hubby and I are way past the cute stage he knows my diva tactics and he always tells me I'm beautiful no matter what  . Even I think I look like :alien: as JA Honey would say LOL.

Wait a suitcase full of food?? Hmm is that what's best to do.. I'm going for a week in May and after so many trips I'm trying to cut down on expense. So should I buy some snacks here instead of going to the grocery store there? I love our ritual we always go shopping in the streets and at the market. It cracks me up how he holds my hand so tight as if someone is going to snatch me and then we go to the supermarket or shop as he calls it to buy our meats. Oh an my water I still refuse to drink the wata at his yaad. I'm too scared i'll get sick. Man I cant wait for my week of pampering. Waking up to breakfast in bed and lunch and dinner each day is just fablous!! Oops I'm getting off the topic..lol

I hear you philly about all the luggage my sSO always says why yuh gotta bring yuh whole ghouse. Well you never know I rather have too much then not have at all...

Yeah since I was likkle Mami and Papi would always have me carry food for family between both islands JA and Haiti it's just second nature to carry it. Although its different now since its for Hubby and our home I don't feel like I'm just a transporter anymore LOL. I also shop at the market of course but I bring alot of staples from here since it's cheaper and he loves junk food LOL and cereal. I don't have an issue with pipe water I guess its just I am immune since I've been drinking it since I was likkle.

Do any other Vjer's have an issue with drinking the pipe water, I know in Haiti we call it Hatian Happiness when people get sick from drinking the pipe water Its not pretty.

Quana, where you at with those braid styles, chica?

Dada, i have a chin length wrapped bob and i wore my hair down in January it held up ok, but i know he got tired of seeing hair scarfs and rollers , but hell we past the always cute stage...LOL, then i wore my hair again end of Feb,first of March and with all the rain, we had, i looked a hot mess after the first day...so now i am gonna have to be a diva on a budget....:ranting: damn car!!!!

Ha you mek mi think of something crazy when you say we past the cute stage. Ok so I met my sweetie in July 09 so I went back to see him in Oct 07. Man oh man was I crazy at the time... So get this on the plane ride down there I was dressed in sweatpants and a shirt and had no make up on or earrings and I wore my scarf cuz my hair was wrapped. Well when I landed in JA I ran to the bathroom and did a 360 transformation. I put on this halter top, tight jeans, cute sandals, took the scarf off put on some makeup and earrings and proceeded to customs you know to get checked into the country. You should have seen the faces of some of the people that was on my flight they were like #######!!! I was cracking up so I came out the airport to meet my sweetie looking fresh but I was nervous cause this was only my second time seeing him so I was worried I wouldn’t even know which one was him but arriving 10:00 p.m. at night to JA helped me pick the right one. So I stayed at his yaad. (That is another long story for another day it took everything in him to convince me to do that one) but anyway why when we went to bed I would just lay down and when I thought he was fast asleep then I would run into his bathroom and wrap my hair. About 6:30/7:00 am I would run into the bathroom brush my teeth, wash my face and unwrap my hair put a little on my lips as if I just happen to sleep beautiful all night long.. Whoo when I think back I really LMAO!!!! I did this the whole time I was there So when I went back in Jan I was like the heck with all that we should be comfortable with one another by now (well I still do come out the airport cute) so now the scarf came out and no more jumping up in morning and he would look at me like I lost my mind. I know he was like what happened to my natural beauty queen. He would pick up my scarf and look like what the heck is this???

DaDa you are crazy, you had me cracking up at work when I was reading this. I cant believe you went through all that trouble to be cute in the morning lol. I guess we do some crazy things in the beginning and then after a while we are like whatever.

Whenever I go to JA I usually have the works, Brand new clothes, shoes, jewelry, purses, perfume, Hair weave, Mani, pedi waxing, full body shave the whole nine yards he never seen me in the same outfit twice. In November the economy was kicking my a$$. I painted my nails and toenails myself and did my own hair(which ended in a ponytail) the only thing i did was wax my eyebrows for $8. One night we were getting ready to go out and my SO was like "times ruff een" I was like hell yea when you get here and start working and giving me money for me to pamper myself and I dont do it then you can complain. Ooh I was pissed off he tried to come with me with that "you are beautiful no matter what" story but It was too late I was already pissed.

Hi everyone...I did it again. I stayed logged in and I have been out of the house all day.

Honey Walmart has the clear strap bras with deep plunge. They also have a strapless bra for bigger "girls" that actually stays put. My sister and I tried them on and jumped up and down all over the dressing rooms. It did not move an inch. Hit her up b/c I can't remember the name of it. Let me look and see if I can find it.

When I wear it people always comment about how perky they are. One woman I supervise at work even grabbed my breast...and then said OOOPPPsss...I'm so sorry I dont know why I did that...they were just "there". LMAO  Good thing I have a crazy sense of humor.

Jawi I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that, stays logged on and no where near the PC LOL

I'm going to check out Walmart for the bras, I always need new supportive strapless ones.

Happy Saturday Yardies!

Girl I'm a ball of nerves about the interview and of course trying not to be, but I know thats natural. I have a massive amount of documentation to carry with me so I will be well prepared. I suppose until the moment I walk in the door of the Embassy I'll resume my confidence and breeze through it. I plan on staying for 2 weeks hoping we can come back together.....

You're gonna be just fine so don't worry! I know, easier said than done but I don't have any doubts you'll get right through and hopefully get his visa in time so he can come home with you! That's what I'm hoping for too....that'll be the best!

Don't worry about the water....it's wonderful! Jamaica soil base is limestone and limestone is a natural filter. It's some of the best you'll ever have. On my first time I was all ready to have Montezuma's revenge because I shared a drink of some spring water that my mister scooped up out of a questionable looking spring. It was fairly still standing and had a little muck on top on the sides. Well, he cleared it and I said, "to heck with it" and went for it. The water actually tasted really good and I never got sick on that trip. Funny thing now is that I've had stomach troubles on the last two trips since that one. Maybe I should've went and drank some of that spring water cause that was the only time I was fine the whole trip.

Congrats Culture on the interview date!

It's a good day for you Portland, a new job and one month to celebrate!

Okay, so I was getting mad at my mister earlier cause I've been calling him all day to make sure he was able to pick up the money I sent with no problem. I saw it was picked up but hadn't heard from him and he wasn't answering his phone which is RARE. After trying about 20 times today, I was getting angry and worried. I was thinking he got robbed on the way out of the bank or something....you know how our minds can cook up some crazy scenarios right?

So, he finally calls me back this evening and immediately started apologizing and saying he knew I was gonna cuss him and said he had to tell me what happened. I said go ahead and he started to explain. He drove to work at his regular early time this morning to be there by 7:00 and parked his car in the usual spot. Since he didn't have a tour in the morning, he snuck out and caught a taxi back to Lucea so he wouldn't get paid for only a half day (oops  ) since it would look like he was there. He got back to Lucea before the bank opened and when it did at 8:30 he went to collect the money. He had his driver's license with him and I think he had his national ID but not sure. This was at National Commercial Bank (NCB) and apparently there have been a lot of money scams lately so they've stepped up their verification process. His license wasn't enough even though he had all the info he needed. He had to take ANOTHER taxi to go back up to his house, get his TRN (taxpayer ID card), some other card (maybe the national ID card) and get back to the bank. The taxi was waiting for him and in his rush to get back to it, left his phone at home. He got back to the bank and showed all 3 forms of ID and once that was done, he said it was a breeze!

He took a taxi back to work and then had a late tour and didn't get home till almost 8:00 when he finally called. So, I'm calm now and he apologized AND thanked me for not only the money, but for giving him his first experience of going into a bank on his own and feeling important. He felt important talking to a guy in a suit & tie. B)

But the reason I'm sharing this is because if anyone sends any money through Senvia where the pick up location is a National Commercial Bank (NCB), then make sure and tell your SO that they need ALL those IDs to pick up the money so they don't have any extra hassle.

Ells,,, didnt I say this on FB? I'm glad that he is okay and you relaxed.

No need for bottled water in Jamaica:

Jamaica's Water Among the Best Quality in the World

KINGSTON (JIS) BY: WARREN WINT

Monday, September 29, 2008

Managing Director of the Water Resources Authority (WRA), Basil Fernandez, has expressed the view that Jamaica's water quality is among the best in the world.

"You have to remember that our water is not tainted by some of the pharmaceuticals and chemicals found in the water in some countries," he told JIS News. "Many cruise ships that visit Jamaica and come from ports such as Miami, get their supply of water from Ocho Rios and not from anywhere else," he said.

Corporate Public Relations Manager of the National Water Commission (NWC), Charles Buchanan, echoed this view also, in a JIS News interview. "Generally, Jamaica's water quality ranks among the very best in the world. This is usually because of a combination of two factors. The raw water quality in Jamaica is generally good across many locations in Jamaica," he said.

"The high quality of water is also a factor of the rigorous process of water treatment that we have. In fact, in many other countries, persons do not drink the water that is provided from their municipal service. In Jamaica, we have stringently sought to achieve the World Health Organisation's (WHO) and the Ministry of Health's water quality standards," he added.

Mr. Buchanan noted that the NWC maintains a very vigorous programme to ensure that there was no compromise of the water quality it supplies to the population.

"We have to be very much on our toes as well as spend significant amounts of money to make sure that this quality control is maintained and the well-being of our customers is protected," he reiterated.

Mr. Buchanan said that it was not unusual for countries to post notices advising people not to drink water from their taps.

"This is done in most places in the United States. And they don't have a problem with money. Even with the limited resources we have, the water quality here is one of the things we can be absolutely proud of. In fact, most cruise ships that come into the region take water only in Jamaica and in select locations in the United States," said Mr. Buchanan.

Underscoring this point, Minister of Water and Housing, Dr. Horace Chang, speaking at the Caribbean Sanitation Workshop at the Knutsford Court Hotel in Kingston earlier this year, stated that the availability of safe drinking water has important implications for development.

"Apart from the obvious health issue, the challenge of safe drinking water and basic sanitation is closely linked to several other socio-political issues, first and foremost among them is poverty," Dr. Chang said.

Water and sanitation are intricately bound, and it is the lack of proper sanitation caused by the unavailability of good quality water that adversely affects many people around the world.

"It is the impoverished developing countries of the world including Latin America and the Caribbean region, that the lack of safe water and sanitation has the greatest impact and where the greatest interventions are needed to prevent the outbreak of disease," the Minister, who is a medical doctor, said.

The list of chemicals and material that can affect water quality to the detriment of humans is wide. This list includes pesticides, fertilisers and human waste. In general, according to the WRA Managing Director, Jamaica has excellent water quality, and there have been comments made that this is one of the few countries where treated water is put to domestic use such as flushing toilets, and washing clothes.

According to the WHO, drinking water quality is an issue of concern for human health in developing and developed countries world-wide. The risks, WHO says, arises from infectious agents, toxic chemicals, and radiological hazards.

The WHO produces international norms on water quality and human health, in the form of guidelines that are used as the basis for regulation and standard setting, in developing and developed countries world-wide. According to these guidelines, safe drinking water is one which does not present any significant health risk over a lifetime of use.

The guidelines also look at the quality of water for uses which are of a higher standard than that which is used for drinking. This includes water used in renal dialysis, the production of pharmaceuticals, cleaning of contact lenses, and for food preparation. The guidelines also point to persons who would normally be able to drink water of a certain quality requiring a higher level when their immune systems are weakened. At this time, those persons may be required to boil water to kill the micro organisms that they would normally be able to tolerate.

The view that Jamaica's water is better than that of many other countries has been long held by Jamaicans. Travelers hold in high regard local supplies of the precious resource, and even say that there are very few countries where the water can be drunk from the tap without risking stomach discomfort or worse.

A veteran sports journalist, who has travelled to more than 20 countries, told JIS News, that he does not normally drink water from the tap since he experienced some discomfort from doing so some time ago. He said that from his experience, while water can be drunk from the taps in Jamaica, this practice is officially not advised in some countries, hence the proliferation of bottled water on the market.

"In fact, the first place that I saw bottled water being sold was in the Maracana Stadium in Brazil," he said.

The sports journalist, who has visited New Zealand, Australia, Finland, Greece, Switzerland, El Salvador, Honduras, Antigua, Barbados, Puerto Rico, and Haiti among other countries, said that the drinking of bottled water is a new phenomenon in Jamaica, and started after a hurricane when water was not available, and the high turbidity impacted the water systems.

"After the hurricane, the drinking of bottled water just caught on," he observed.

Water quality describes the chemical, physical, and biological composition and characteristics of water, in other words, it refers to the suitability of water for a particular purpose. For example, water that is suitable for washing clothes or to water crops may not be good enough for human consumption.

Good water quality is very important to maintain good hygiene and thus affects good health. Water for drinking and for washing hands and utensils must be of the highest quality and free from harmful micro organisms.

Statistics from the United Nations' Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC), reveal that of the 10 million children who die annually, more than half are as a result of poor sanitation or poor hygiene. Diarrhoeal diseases, which are primarily the result of poor sanitation, are the second highest killers of children, and are responsible for 17 per cent of the deaths under the age of five. Furthermore, figures also show that diarrhoea - which is a disease caused by the lack of proper sanitation and hygiene - has killed more children in the last 10 years, than all those killed in armed conflict since the end of World War II in 1945.

The Millennium Development Goal of water for all by 2015, is a worthwhile benchmark for Jamaica, and a goal to which the Ministry of Water and Housing remains committed.

O.k. Ells with you being mad at SO that makes me think. Is there anyone else who starts getting vexed when their SO doesn't answer the phone??Me and my SO go at is all the time its like I can talk to him 50 times a day but if I call just call once and he doesnt answer he better watch out cuz here comes my text messages  . He always calls me back like why when you cant get me you go nuts  ?? I be like I dunno and I don't. There has never been a long period of time that has gone by that I haven't talked to him well unless I'm mad and not answering my phone on purpose but when were cool he's always reachable. Oh but you know what's the kicker if he cant get me he does the same thing. Why wasn't you answering your phone.. What were you doing... But yet when I do the same thing back its a problem...

I was just wondering if anyone else is like that?
