Sus - is he trying to run taxi to make extra $ with that brand new car?

No, it's a 2 door car, and the driver's seat is broken so it's a squeeze to get 3 passengers in it, not something he can run taxi with - he was just an idiot and speeding - But every time I talk to him he's waiting for his brother, or going to pick up Daniel's GF from work, ..... That's nice of him - but they need to pay some gas $ and not take advantage! He picked up some contract work last week -

Yeah, my mister's cousins and friends also treat him like a taxi service. His one cousin also seems to think the car is part his. Even ran the car to Sav & back one day....ON MY GAS $$!! After that, I said, not on my limited money!

I get it. I always say I'm going to run taxi when I'm there to try to recoup some of the rental car cost.

i feel u ells.. i don't know tho what u should do.. like tanya said, choose ur battles cuz in the end IF u still gonna come outta ur pocket to buy all those min, u might as well do what u have to do to save the money and buy the chip. right now i haven't bought minutes in 1 whole week, i need every dollar for the move and so rg has had to take on that burden a lil more and he buys what he can. even if we are only able to talk once every other day instead of our usual 3 or 4 times a day on my minutes..

just like w/ any relationship we are to depend on each other BUT at the same time, i want a self sufficient man and man that knows how to prioritize.. even w/ Jamaica's hard economy, i believe people will work for what they really want.. how he does now is an indication of how he will do when he gets here.. look at his track record and see if this time he just needs a lil help or if he does need a reality check on what u expect of him.

Thanks ladies for the advice! I'm taking this all into consideration. But I do agree w/you Quana wanting a man who can prioritize & that if someone wants something bad enough, they'll go the extra mile for it. This may be the next big thing we need to discuss....my expectations and his willingness (or lack of) to work his butt off when he gets here cause that's what it's going to take for us to survive.

Well, I found out that Jamaica flavored Kool-Aid (or most things with the flavor "Jamaica") is actually hibiscus-flavored.

Apparently, the hibiscus flower is also called the Jamaica flower or flor de jamaica. I learned something new today!

EXACTLY.. we can't take care of everything and then when he get here EXPECT for him to START taking on some of the responsibility we had harbored all throughout the romance.. that expectation has to be established from the start.. when i first met RG i used to intentionally not take my wallet (heck i did that w/ guys here, cuz don't know if ya'll noticed alot of men are becoming SORRY!!!!!!! another subject) so if he couldnt pay for it then WE don't need it..

so anyway, now that i know he is an upstanding guy and is not out to spend up all my money, i don't mind sharing in expenses, we are working together for a set goal.

God forbid me get wid a man that only identifies w/ his own struggle.. i knew this dude that was quick to tell me when he didn't have no gas money, but when i started trying to talk about my finanical woes, he came back w/ but quana u have a good job and u don't know how it is not to eat but once a day not cuz u choose to but cuz u have to .. i knew right then and there, he was not the one for me!!!

i am having a bad day,

1) tried hooking up my computer - find out MY INTERNET service is on another line, won't be fixed until Friday

2) cousin left her three yr old with me this morning for a quick run to the bank and didn't come back for two hours my sister then calls me to inform me, she is on my sisters back porch having a cigeratte in the meantime i'm stuck in my bedroom with two kids because they are re-wiring my apartment and wires are hanging and there's dust on the ground and didn't want them stepping in or on anything. and did i mention i was starving?

3) my phone in new york is still on even though i told them to disconnect it on 1/31

4) go in the basement to take my clothes out of the washing machine...it's still running water....nothing washed....it's my grandmothers washing machine...so I had to go and break the news...

5) on the phone with the kingston embassy...need I saw more...of course nothing accomplished

one good thing that happeded last week was my b-day and mr took me to the westin hotel for the night

hopefully by friday i will be able to log on via my own computer

We received our NOA2 last month and now he's going to drop off his DS-230 & get his police cert on the 31st. After that I guess it's just waiting for an interview date & him getting his medical exam done. I know everyone wants this to happen as fast as possible, but I want this all to happen AFTER this semester is over so I can focus on getting a good grade in the meantime.

ELLS : i dont think your being unreasonable..becuz i go to school full time and wrk part time ..and my expenses swollow my paychecks..so i can understand being on a tight budget and having a SO in JA doesnt make it any easier ..but my SO knows my situation and i know his..he runs taxi so his income varies day to day week to week..the only time i send him money is for the digicel minutes but we alternate every month...one month he'll top up the card and the next i will ..just to make things fair..or if i have extra cash i'll send him an extra $20 so he can save it for the next month or whenever....but either way we both make sacrifices to make our communication wrk...and if my SO doesnt have the money to get the mins he would never ask me for it he will go withought eating just to save the little money he can..which i dont mind sending it if he doesnt have it but he wont except it from me..and as for using up the mins so fast my SO and i have been very disciplined ..we usually talk evey night for about an hour or he calls me every other day and we speak for like and hour and a 1/2 and that works out good for us becuz during the day i'm at school and he's on the road so we dont have time to talk..but i hope everything wrks out.. just remember that relationships go both ways..

i'm so upset i havent even started my k-1 yet..i just send my SO the forms to fill out and send back to me ...i already have everything else i need for the package..so hopefully i will have it sent out by next month..
