I haven't made the eggplant stuffed bread in a while - but basically, you peel the eggplant, slice it thin, dip it in egg then breadcrumbs or flour and fry it, then place it on paper towel to drain - I bought ready made pizza dough from the store - Roll it out, then spread a little tomato sauce over the crust, then a layer of eggplant, and a layer of mozzarella cheese and some -parmesan. Roll it up like a log, tuck the ends in and seal the edge - Bake it at a 425 degree oven for about 15 - 20 minutes until brown. I have made them stuffed with everything - spinach, broccoli, sausage, ...

OMG...that's sounds so good....

I gotta take lunch early today.

Man... I probably should reduce my reading of other threads here on VisaJourney. Many are either depressing or frustrating.

I just read one where the USC is engaged to someone from the UK. The USC said that it may be a red flag if our fiances can't get a regular (B1?) visitor visa to come to the US for 3 months. :bonk:

On another note, one of my coworkers gave me some Kool-Aid where the flavor is "Jamaica." I was like.. what does a COUNTRY taste like? (Two people asked me if it tasted like marijuana, lol.) So I made this kool aid a few minutes ago and was quite disappointed. It tastes like a mixture of grape & strawberry... pretty nondescript. Then again, I don't usually drink Kool-Aid.

i think i know what ur talking about nat.. the jamaica plant.. pronounced HAMAICA.. is what makes that drink..they have it at alot of the hispanic restuarants..

Girl I love you too. But do not make promises you do not intend to keep. I will have to make a special run to the store just for you. I do not own a dutchpot though...lol

May the good Lord bless and keep you whether near or far away and in all that you do.

Much love

Morning Yardies!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! My arms are sore today because I got out yesterday and drummed in the sun!

I'm a little ticked at mister today. I have been since yesterday. I'm trying to figure out if I'm being unreasonable or if I'm justified and maybe even ignoring a red flag. Just to preface, he NEVER asks me to send money for anything. On only a few occasions have I sent money; once for Grandma's meds, once $60 for his b-day & a couple times for expenses for this visa process. Other than that, I don't feel like he's just in this for the monetary benefits. However, since he makes about $4000 JA every two weeks at his job, most of this relationship has been on my cost. I've paid the expensive phone bills each month and topped up his phone on occasion. He tries to contribute but instead of getting the 1000 digicel minutes, he drains his pockets by buying those stupid $100 JA phone cards one at a time & I think it's a waste so I do most of the calling.

Finally, this month, I topped up his phone & he did the 1000 international minutes which has been great. Then you guys clued me in to buying the 2nd phone chip so we could do it again that way. So, I've been asking him for the last couple weeks to buy a phone chip when he gets paid and I'll top that one up and it'll save me a ton of money compared to past phone bills. He knows my salary is reduced with this state budget issue and being a state worker. Well, he just got paid last Friday but didn't work a full two weeks because they're rotating at his job and he only got $3500 JA. I KNOW that's not a lot of money but I still want him to get a phone chip. He's guilting me now (not intentionally really) by saying he needs his money to buy food and gas and can't buy a chip. I understand that those are necessities, I really do. BUT, I think to myself how many times I've inconvenienced myself and my budget for him and how much I've shelled out towards phone bills and I can't believe he can't even make this simple, one-time sacrifice to benefit both of us and especially cut my phone bill down by $160 a month. I'm kinda pissed and now I'm telling him to stop calling me 5X a day because we have 11 days to get through and only about 120 minutes left on the plan. I want him to save those minutes so I can keep in contact with him on the 31st when he drops off his DS-230 in Kingston. Last night, I didn't feel like discussing this because I needed to figure out if I'm being unreasonable or not so I just cut the convo very short since I didn't have much to say to him last night.

Should I be more understanding that he doesn't have much money or am I justified in thinking that he can contribute a little towards the 'costs' of this relationship?:unsure:

Wow! What a bunch of beauties!

Shrewds..they do mail it..if u check the box on the DS230 i think..we got ours...u go to the office if u need it right this minute..

welcome back Philly!!

KK..where u been..

everybody is in hiding..must be scrared to speak now...i too hope everyone is well

Typee..nice to see yuh...how logn has hubby been here now? it does take time..my husband was very quiet i nthe house too at 1st...hope he gets out of that soon...we have a lot of new ppl on board..

Mr. Man got here in October. I have very short patience, so prayers are needed for the both of us. I should appreciate the silent treatment oppossed to past history. I forget that this is all new to him and overwhelming. I guess I would be the same if everything was different and I was in his country. Lord, help me and my big mouth and controlling ways. :innocent:

Typee, I can really relate and I know I'll be facing the same challenges you are. When you're independent and used to getting things done, patience is one of the biggest virtues we have to try and foster. I know I'm gonna have a hard time with it but I have to think about how good he treats me when I'm in his home and try to do the same for him. Praying for both of you to get through this adjustment period.

Ladies; morning and thanks for all the PRAYERS...

Ya'll keep me in your prayers...I go to trial April 13th!

Praying for you Lawny! I feel confident for you though!

I will say again, though i have said it before.. though there has been bad blood at times on VJ, i find that i feel more supported here with the ladies i have met on VJ, in person and net wise than i do by my real flesh and blood friends. I am so thankful that i found VJ, otherwise i dont know quite how i would have managed throughout this relationship.

I echo that sentiment Honey! Words can't even begin to express how grateful I am for this web site and for everyone on this yardie thread! This is the best support system I've ever found outside of my own Mom and Dad!

Morning Honey -

I am trying to guzzle the caffeine, too - but it's not working!! I was up late last night - went to a friend's house for another friend's bday dinner, and now I can barely move, we ate too much!! She made London Broil, Mac & Cheese, Potato Salad, Devilled Eggs, Stuffed Eggplant Bread, Homemade Rolls,,...... ate way way too much food!

 SOOOO..............hungry..............NOW!

have a wonderful day, i am off to visit my father he is back in the hospital

Sorry to hear Ryon. I pray he gets well soon.

Ditto! Praying for your Dad Ryon's. For you too because this must be so stressful.

Where did I put that picture of Homer Simpson drooling???

hey all..

love and miss everyone, hope all is well. Still no sign of Roger coming, work is far and in between..whatever he has has to go towards living expenses and the kids.. there is no way that i can afford another trip right now.. i basically have started from scratch at the new place, altho I am soo thankful to my God for if making it possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so anyway.. this summer may be the next time i see him.. which sucks cuz jan was the last time :crying::crying:

I hope you get to see him no later than EARLY summer then. It's tough to go for so long. Who was it that went a year without seeing their SO on here? Was it Dillon?? Now THAT would be torture!

Anyway, I hope something good happens so you can see him soon!

Ells, you are not being unreasonable, and it's very easy to get frustrated - DJ and I had a conversation along these lines on Sat - cause he got pulled over for speeding, had $4000 in his pocket, and after it only had $1000 (the ticket would have been $7000 or $8000) - He was kinda whining, because he had to go to Ochi today, and only had $1000, and needed gas - my response was that he had better get out there Sat and Sun and pick up some work, or make his brother and his gf give him some money bc he's been driving them around - And that he shouldn't have been speeding, cause he doesn't have the extra $ right now to throw away on stupidity.

Sometimes you have to play hardball a bit - and maybe this week isn't the right one for him to buy a new chip, since he has to go to Kingston - but let him know how you feel, and see if he does it from his next pay -

Ells my suggestion would be to help him with the chip - cuz it's going to save YOU money in the long run. I can't imagine having to live on his kind of budget. My justification is always I have wasted $5 on something foolish before so I would definitely spend it on something that will save me money. If you are going to have to send money down for the police report when he goes to Kingston next week just include the extra in that so you don't have to pay more fees.

I totally understand your point .....but I say just choose your battles. I'm sure it's not that he doesn't understand you have a budget as well, just his budget is tighter.

I hope you get to see him no later than EARLY summer then. It's tough to go for so long. Who was it that went a year without seeing their SO on here? Was it Dillon?? Now THAT would be torture!

Sus - is he trying to run taxi to make extra $ with that brand new car?

No, it's a 2 door car, and the driver's seat is broken so it's a squeeze to get 3 passengers in it, not something he can run taxi with - he was just an idiot and speeding - But every time I talk to him he's waiting for his brother, or going to pick up Daniel's GF from work, ..... That's nice of him - but they need to pay some gas $ and not take advantage! He picked up some contract work last week -
