i am sorry it's one thing to compromise with a child to try something new and if they don't like it introduce them to something else but i refuse to let my child dictates to me what she wants whenever she wants because she can. the lesson here would be unless it makes u sick or you are allergic once it's good for u and it's for dinner that's what u will have

I agree with you Jakeswife

nells she made me so bad i was literally trying to catch my breath. she is now thinking about getiing all the expensive stuff for her child even though she can't afford it. using the old excuses that she wants the very best for her child even if she can't afford it. will not eat to try and buy name brand and is thinking about expensive private schools . this is someone who loves to profile and loves name brand stuff and is passing that on to her kid. thinking that's what's important

Jakeswife how about my godson school said he have ADHD, I begged his mom to not put him on medication, how about she put him on it and never told me his dad did i been pissed with her ever since I found out....

does he need med sfor that condition? my problem with my friend is that she spoil the child shi**tless. i was there and had something that i owned and the child wanted it. she expected me to give it to her just because she wanted it. well i refused and i was disgusted that she expected me to crumble because her daughter was acting out. the baby is just out of control and she said she is going to wait until she is 4 to do anything about the child's bad behaviour. chatting sh**it about she read in books.

He is 5 years old no way i would of allow then to put my child on medication, he just started school which i think play a big part in the way he act in class.

so u see why i am scared. i am not supermom in anyway nor will i tell people how to raise their child but she is so delusional about what her actions will do to the child and the behavioual problems that child is going to have thinking she can get whatever she wants when she wants. she is no paris hilton and the mother is living on a tight budget but hell i guess that doesn't matter nor does it determine her actions

Jakes what his problem is he is used to doing whatever he want, they allow him to stay up way pass a 5 yr old need to, i mean just no type of rules in there house. So of course he think he can do what he want at school and you know the teachers are not having that . I told her you need to set rules at home so when he get to school they dont label him as a behavior child but no she dont listen to me.

Nelly;

I don't agree with given that medication to children either. The problem is, PARENTS want a quick fix. My little brother is 25 years old now, at the time they wanted to put him on that medication because they said he wasn't focused. He was BORED in class because he was not being challenged. By the time he was in the 5th grade he was in all AP classes all the way through high school and graduated 3 in his class. In college he was on the dean's list and graduated with honors...so PARENTS need to take control and not allow, teachers or doctors to push meds on their young child...find another alternative and figure out what's really going on

In some cases, meds are necessary - My brother has ADD - he was put on a very low dose of Ritalin when he was about 6 or so, and it was needed - he could not make a decision without it. By high school, he was mainstreamed into all classes, with a special resource study hall. Now he is a Financial Comptroller with a Wall Street company, and just got a 11% increase! In some situations, it's warranted - but parents need to stay informed, stay on top of it - and make sure they are in control and try all options.

jakeswife; some people don't want you to tell them anything about their children...if you ask me what I think about something and I tell you and you get mad or offended, well that's on you. You asked me what I would do and I told you, so don't get mad. I'm not saying that you should agree with me, but trust me, when that child embrasses them in public the first time they'll never forget it. I wish my son would pass his place. I don't spank my son, because I don't need to (it doesn't work)...what I do instead is take something away from him or I'll place his video game where he can see it everyday to remind him of what he's missing out on. My friends think I'm harsh, but a so it go! He'll thank me later. I have friends who buy their kids $100 pairs of tennis shoes and they're 7 years old...WTH! I had to wear TRAKS from Kmart back in the day and it didn't kill me, sure they teased me, but I didn't give a damn. I went to school learned something and brought myself home. I didn't go their to see who was wearing what. It was bad enough having to deal with people that were making fun of Jamaicans and my accent and teasing that I did vodoo, so mi give dem wah dem ask fah.
