I feel you Honey. I'm in the same boat. I don't know if I am so sad because I'm already tired of waiting for USCIS or because I haven't seen A since August. I am used to seeing him every 3 to 4 months since we started dating. I feel like just giving up. I thought that I was going to recover faster than this and that I would be able to get a trip in before going back to work. Well that didn't work out. Now, I don't know when I will be able to go and see him.

I feel like I'm not going to see him until he arrives here. I had to postpone our beach wedding because I can't do the drive/flight to Florida...so I am settling on the courthouse. I'm just ready to drink myself into a stupor and take my pain pill too. I'm not even a drinker.

Our anniversary is July 1st, and I was praying that we would be married on that date. I hate USCIS...I really hate them.

Jawi --- I know you know better and that's all I'm going to say. You've picked me up several times...so, I'm pulling you up now...cut that out. I wish I was near you to give you a big hug or make you laugh. Thanks for always being there for me...keep your head up sis, bettah mus come.

Question for anyone who can answer: How long should I wait for a response to my e-mail to the embassy to set an appointment for mister to drop off his DS-230? One day, a few days, a week, longer?

Ells - they usually answer within a few days. I would say if it has been longer than like 4 send them another one - make sure you put 3rd request in the heading.

Question for anyone who can answer: How long should I wait for a response to my e-mail to the embassy to set an appointment for mister to drop off his DS-230? One day, a few days, a week, longer?

I was not very patient so I would only wait 2 or 3 days, if it wasn't for Islandwoman it would have been 1 day or less. LOL!

I'm not very patient either! I wrote them Tuesday and they only answered PART of my e-mail but totally disregarded the last short paragraph on scheduling an appt. But they did write back fairly quickly which surprised me....it was the same day. I sent a 2nd e-mail on Tuesday once again inquiring about setting up an appt and they didn't respond. So, I wrote them again yesterday and changed the subject line to read 'Appointment to drop off DS-230' and haven't gotten a response. I'm wondering if I just need to wait a few more days and contact them early next week or if I should bug them every day until they respond.:innocent:

Nothing even in my spam folder....darn it!

Yeah - only address one thing at a time per email. I would wait till they deal with one thing, then email them a different subject.

Okay one more thing Ellis, sorry I'm just thinking of stuff.....

My SO got a call from the embassy right after I emailed them for a second interview date. He said they called to see if I was sure I could come to interview. That freaked me out because I never heard of them calling people and I didn't get a response. They just confirmed with him over the phone. Then like a week later someone else confirmed my original email with the same date they told my SO.

My SO has gotten alot of calls.....one on a Saturday.

Hi Ladies, I got approved today I am so happy my boo will be home soon

Congrats!!

Any good news today culture1?

Hey Dillon........NO, sorry to say, :crying: and i continue to nicely send my daily email inquiry....which they don't seem to be responding to at all other than the usual receipt/notice type of reply...so i am stumped. and so frustrated. and i called yesterday and was told no date is in the system....try next week. do i have to wait a week.....another week!!!! another month?????what the F......? Does anyone have any other ideas ...i'm suggesting to him to go to the embassy and see if he can get some answers...or is that too presumptuous ?? and anyone......what is the number that my SO should be calling and asking for a supervisor ? want to be sure we got that.......what else. Pins in a voodoo dolll...........i can do that.

Dillon.........how long you going for? bring back some luck...C1

I wouldn't have him go - they won't even let him in unless he is on the list to be there. Try calling this # 876-702-6450 - my SO has always been able to get through to someone with that # who is able to help him.

Good luck - keep the faith.

One more thing culture...talking about fustration. My cousin had her interview in January and she still doesn't have her visa, because they can't find her passport. So, she applies for a new passport gets that the end of last month and once again, it was misplaced. She says she's not calling or e-mailing them anymore, because all they're doing is giving her the runaround.

Eeek....they need to teach someone how to file better.

Well I'm chatting to myself...guess I do some work.

hey guys

we still havent received SSN (no biggie really but need it to test for drivers liscense)

so we are going to the local office next week

What do I need to take? besides his VISA?

My general rule is take every damn thing you can think of, just in case. We carried around his visa, passport, birth papers, marriage certificate, and then later, SSN everywhere we went officially for quite a while.

I just brought my plane ticket for 03/20 to KINGSTON.

Hey Rox, I will be there that is when our interview is!

One week. So excited for you. When you going?

thanks for the SSN info guys :)

Also..those of you that have your husbands with you already..how did you do the car situation??

M and I are on different work schedules. I can pick him up but I go to work like 3 hours before him in another town (from where he works and we live).

He works 3 week days and sat and sunday

Sat and Sun are not problems for transportation bc I am off and can take him

So far we ahve been bumming rides (just this week) and its annoying

We have thought about a car but dont want to fork out the money to buy it..or the money to keep two cars up

but..im nto sure we have a choice

there is NO public transportation where we are

Now, come summer (June) I will be off and we would like to wait until about August to get another car

Advice??

My advice is to hold off on any big decisions for a while. A few months will not kill you.

Yes, it is annoying. Still there.

I don't know where you live or how far away his job is from where you live but what about a bike? I know that worked good for Marlita.

I kinda forgot about that. We had talked about it.

We live probably about 4 miles from where he works..so not bad..unless it is snowing...

I hope it wont be much longer and we won't have to say the "S" word anymore.

Amen on that!!!!!

Hey Valerie ( waving)

Wha gwaan?

Ok, so i have a general question for whoever feels like answering, i am perusing different sites for planning this undetermined wedding date, maybe july.. anyway i got back a quote of 1650.00 from tropical weddings located in Ochi, that would take care of license, location, cake, decorations, damn near everything, short of us showing up but two of my friends think that is high, i dont think it is for a wedding, but hell what do i know i have never been married, so what do you all think? oh yeah that includes set up for 10 guests also.

For any of my already married Vj'ers is that a decent rate or is it possible to go cheaper and still have a nice non bootleg type ceremony? :)

Honey; I was about to ask you how many quests...she had 10 people also. That's about how much my cousin paid, but her packaged included meals, liquor and the photo "DRUNK", but he did a good job nonetheless. She got married in Negril use some one that use to be a wedding planner in California who moved to Jamaica in 2002 and made a living setting up smaller ceremonies. I think her business is called "Simpliciti". She's a little rough around the edges, but she does a great job. I also have other family members who have spent close to $5,000.00 for a LAVISH wedding for about 250 people...but mi no know.

How much more lavish was it, Tre?

$1650 for 10 and $5,000 for 250 sound like a huge jump to me.

Morning everyone! TGIF!!

Honey...I got married at the RGD and it cost $150 which included the license, minister, and location. I had the option of the indoor setting or the outdoor one but I chose indoor. It was decorated beautifully with an lighted arch that had flowers as well as a backdrop. Me, Lance, and some close friends and family went out for lunch afterwards.

It was a nice, small wedding with the people who mean the most to us. Later on down the road we plan on having something a bit more lavish for our renewal of vows.

$1650 doesn't seem too bad considering they're wedding planners so their fee is included in that price.

Have you tried checking with any hotels in Ochi?

JG...Sometimes it depends.... I had a cousin who spent around $4,000 for a wedding for 200 people. Most of the fees came from the villa she rented. The wedding was held on the grounds of the villa. She bought all of the decorations up here and distributed them amongst family that were going so she wouldn't have too much luggage. She borrowed the tables/chairs from church and my grandmother's pastor officiated. My family in Jamaica did all of the cooking and she reimbursed them for the cost of groceries. It was beautiful! So sometimes it depends on the resources you use
