Should he visit and we marry while he's here and then file the K3? Is that even an option? I've read so much info I feel like my eyes are gonna bleed

I feel I'm pretty well educated...but when I read some of this info I feel like I'm reading a foreign language. If anyone can offer up some advice (might wanna put it in kindergarten terms because apparently I'm not grasping this info well)

I would greatly appreciate it, we would greatly appreciate it.

You've been pretty well informed about the meeting requirement for the K1 visa, so I'll skip all that. The above option is a perfectly good one as long as he returns to Canada to complete the visa process. Assuming he's going to need to work though, the CR1 visa would be a far better choice for a spouse. He enters with work authorization instead of waiting a few months for it.

Sometimes intelligent educated people have a hard time comprehending the options because they are studying them with a palatable result in mind instead of to learn the options. Unfortunately all the legal options usually result in months long separation from our loved ones.

My counsel is to (once you've met in person) decide if, when and where you want to marry (in other words, make your life decisions first) and then choose the visa path that best fits your circumstances and priorities.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous
