I just learned of this last night and it's an intriguing concept. Has anyone else heard of it?

How so? They are doing away with the failed monetary system which divides people into classes and basing it on a resource system where the entire planet is provided for through our natural abundance.

Taking away people's rights to ownership and controlling the distrubution of goods is pure communism, and that is exactly what the VP proposes.

Resources will never be abundant. There is a degree of scarcity to everything. The only thing in abundance is air. Everything requires some degree of labor to transform it from something useless to a consumer's good. Money is just a medium of exchanging transformed goods. Far from a failed concept, money enables trade. When trade is eliminated, you're left with a primitive, purely-autarkic society.
