I had been hearing so much about Slum Dog Millionaire in the media, so we went on Sat. SEE THIS MOVIE! It's one of the best I've ever watched. The audience gave it standing ovation twice. The cinematography, acting, and story line are so moving, from beginning to end. I laughed and cried a lot. You won't regret spending money to see this one.

The last movie my wife and I saw at a movie theater was Gran Turino. Originally, neither of us were too interested, but my dad wanted to see it and offered to pay for our tickets. We thought, "Sure, why not?" So we went and it turned out to be a really good movie.

Most of the movies we watch now are either on special movie channels (i.e. HBO) or through Video On Demand. It's amazing how quickly movies leave theaters and get on DVD and VOD nowadays. I remember when it took about a year (sometimes longer) for a movie to get transferred to VHS or BETA.

As for why someone would want to see a movie in a theater, I'd say it depends on the movie. Action movies are better on the wide screen, since they rely heavily on special effects. Comedies and dramas are fine at home.
