Perhaps an inability to communicate with one's partner as well?

Seems to me that a man who wants more than one woman at a time hasn't learned much about women. Women may do these things, but not because they enjoy the sex, well, that's my opinion. Like I said, it implies at least a willingness to experiment with lesbianism, which I can't understand unless one is truly that way inclined. I think some people use sex like a tool to manipulate rather than the ultimate expression of love.

again, a bunch of westerners using western logic to try to understand orientals.

for a chinese man, having multiple female partners is not necessarily about enjoying lots of sex, or watching them go lesbian (which, i have to admit, is rather erotic, especially if they are buxom, as few chinese are, and enjoy fondling each others, well, you know - fond memories). it's about demonstrating social status and position, which are closely related to economic status and position, but not quite interchangeable.

for a chinese woman, being part of a multiple partnership will involve sex, and may involve occasional lesbian activity (depending on the desires of the partner), but that is usually for the entertainment of the male. the gain sought in the relationship, though, is purely through access of the man's social and economic status and position. chinese women enjoy being seen as the partner of a powerful man, and a man who has more than one is thereby more powerful. they also enjoy the practical advantages to sharing the man's resources.

the girls i had felt special because they had a wealthy guy, and were willing to work it as a team because the deal was so good for them. it's that simple. i really didnt care at the time, nor did i intend for it to develop. they just kept coming, and coming, in ever increasing numbers. next thing you know i had a house full.

What the chinese do or don't do is one thing, what a western male chooses to do when in China entirely another. I really don't care what you do, to be quite honest, but this idea that because you are in China you can change your personal morality and attitudes to women is quite beyond my understanding. Most people understand that if they hold women in high regard, they do so no matter what country they happen to be in at the time.

I have to say, I find you amusing, because I don't know you, and I don't have to deal with you in person. You entertain with your posts about yourself. They may or may not be true, it doesn't really matter. They portray a disposable attitude to standards, very, very odd.

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

Presumably Justashooter's "when in Rome" logic would apply to indulging in cannibalism when staying with Amazonian indians and participating in a public stoning in Iran.

Seriously - this guy reminds me of that J. Peterman character from Seinfeld.

what makes western ideology more intrinsically "right" than eastern standard? perhaps the chinese tradition is superior, in some respect? didn't the divorce rate in the western world increase dramatically as western women became "liberated"? aren't there now more psychologically damaged children/adults as a result of the break-up of families caused by women who were "tired of being disrespected"? if women's views of what is and what is not "respect" hadn't changed so dramatically in the west in the past 40 years, wouldn't we have a more stable society today? is it "disrespect" to see women as partners that may be held in multiple relationships with knowledge?

monogamy is a relatively new cultural standard for the human species with traditions of 1-2,000 years, at best. polygamy based upon socio-economic power was the standard for the first 58-59,000 years after ** sapiens left africa. shouldn't we honor nature's intent?

honestly, i wasn't really paying attention to the situation as it developed. i didn't analyse it against my cultural mores. i didn't have strong feelings about it either, as i was in the tail end of an andropausal shift at the time, with manifestations including flatness of affect and diminished emotional response, without loss of analytical ability or basic drives. adrenal malfunction can take many forms. it was a weird time in my life that i don't think i could reproduce if i tried.

having recovered 90% of affect and emotion, i am left with the experience, which causes me to wonder about the importance of monogamy in our society. i am of the conclusion that monogamy is an enforced schema in the interest of the state. it has been state supported since the time of the development of simple industry, and may be so solely for the purpose of pacifying the productive male labour force.

monogamy is not a natural state, rather an engineered construct of the state, which depends upon an industrial economy for it's own sustinance, in terms of the taxation it may levy.

The joys of being a Nexus 6 ;)

Now let me ask you this:

You're in a desert (any desert - its completely hypothetical), walking along in the sand when all of a sudden you look down and see a tortoise (know what a turtle is? Same thing). It's crawling towards you. You reach down and flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over. But it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping. Why is that?

(I'll stop short of asking about your mother and the happy times in your life)

You are kidding me right?

Ok, maybe not. You justify your own behaviour by blaming it all on what's wrong with not only women, but society as a whole. Priceless

Well, not blame, the justification is that 'western society is ###### up since women got rights'. Ah, the joy of reading about people with different ideas.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
