anyone know anything about Arnica?

I've started taking Arnica today because I'm having surgery in two weeks. I'm curious if anyone has ever used it for the same purpose?

I always used Vitamin E after surgery to decrease scarring.. And for bruising etc. I always use Traumeel (which has Arnica in it apparently. http://www.naturalhealthconsult.com/Monographs/traumeel.html Traumeel does work fabulously.. and it really does speed the healing process.

Doesn't Vitamin E thin the blood?

Thanks so much for your reply. I took so many pills this morning (beyond the supplements I normally take) so I was curious if they'll actually help.

I LOVE arnica. I have it in an essential oil form. Just rub it on a sprain or muscle/tendon pain, it rocks!

I get it at a place called "nature's magic" they sell herbs n homeopathic remedies. Actually had never heard of it..I saw the tablets and then the oil and put two and two together lol i was so grateful for it, I used it everyday when i sprained my ankle real bad. I cant find the oil form anywhere else besides that place.

I have seen the salves containing arnica..but its a minute amount.

You may be able to find it online.

If you find it...I mixed mine with olive oil to dilute. works like a gem. maybe you can add it to vitamin e oil since its good for scarring right?

We have used Jomelop E for sunburns, scars and friends used it for keloids.

The other kind striament is for the removal of stretch-marks.

It's all natural, made from herbs but also they added vitamin E.

My complexion is pretty fair so I'm hoping my scars won't be as bad. I'll ask my surgeon about vitamin E. Thanks

Oh honey.. I'm fairer than fair.. I think being fair makes it worse!! Plus you have to be careful about sun exposure etc. on a fresh scar n'est pas?

Fresh aloe vera. I don't know if it has an effect on scars, like it does on burns, but it really does make the skin feel silky smooth and cool.

As far as keloid scarring goes, I think having fair skin makes it less likely to keloid. I know all about sun exposure! I was going to have a beach vacation two weeks after and the surgeon told me I had to use special super sunblock if I wanted to be out in the sun. I gave up on the beach vacation idea. Maybe I'll go to Seattle

I took the arnica this morning. You're supposed to put it under your tongue and let it dissolve...it doesn't really dissolve it turns into a something like a paste. Thank god the pills are tiny, I have to take 4 of them 2x a day. It's absolutely disgusting

I bought some of the arnica gel and it seems like it'll be good. It doesn't really have any smell which makes me happy

ARNICA IS AMAZING! I took some on my trips to Jordan with me--- I knew I'd be walking a lot (something I was rather un accustomed to) and I would have sore muscles and feet by the end of the day! Popped a few arnica and rubbed down my sore muscles with the the gel, and Life Was Good! WE use is as an every day pain killer as well, instead of taking asprin or otc pain killers=its great for those montly cramps, and efectively stopping small children from crying after a bump or fall! Even takes the sting away after waxing! lol! And makes the bruising go away a lot faster! EVEN helped my brother-in-law who got in a car accident while we were th ere. He endedup with whiplash, and couldn't sleep till I gave him my bottle of it--not sure he didn't just down the bottle, but hey-if it helped!

Be cautious using it around stiches and open wounds, it can burn,but usually doesn't. That caution is more because you can use a lot of things topically with no reaction, but if it gets into a wound, you may find you are allergic, and then you have 2 whammies to worry about! Take caution and look at the website Lisa suggested!--Amy
