Im driving here in AZ using my philippines license. GEICO is our auto insurance. When my husband added me up, it accepted my philippines license.

makes more sense to go ahead and get it, youhave been paying as if he had it, then IF he decided to drive your one and only car he would be covered, looks better than chancing the fact of the car is there and not having the license IF he decieded he wanted to drive. They are seeing that more as a probability

I must have given the impression that he is refusing to get his license. Nothing could be further from the truth...

Maybe I should have indicated that he has been studying daily for months hoping to pass the test as soon as possible.. but it's not easy and he is one of those people who freeze in formal tests... We are doing sample tests on line to prepare him, and next week we'll give it a try for real, but if you fail 3 times you are barred from doing it again for like 2 months... so he wants to be sure he passes in the 3 tries... Also the test is done on computer which makes him even more apprehensive. My husband isn't a young buck... so this isn't anything he is even slightly comfortable with.....

we pay about $101 for full coverage for 2 cars.. but we use not a well known insurance provider...

$101 per month for two cars?.. Who is that with?

Lincoln General Insurance Company (the underwrite is Legacy Pacific Insurance).. they are out of Phoenix, Arizona...

we went to a local insurance place here in the LA area and that is who they hooked us up with...

I was surprised when I got the first statement because the lady here said it was going to be $150/month

we were paying about $88/month before we got the second car...

Just be careful that if you do choose to switch you do it before your coverage ends in April so you won't have a lapse in coverage.

You can complain all you want to your state insurance commission, but the bottom line is that the company has the full right to cancel your coverage based on the presumed risk of an unlicensed driver in your household.

Nationwide Insurance Co. is nationally reliable and its rate for liability coverage only is about the same as you are paying, except that the upper limit is $1 million. I had it in my name only until my wife passed the drivers test, and the rate did not increase noticeably when she was added.

Wow, you are having some bad luck with these companies. I'm sorry for this. I don't have much advice but you know everything that people going through this process go through and then to have to fight to keep your insurance or insure your spouse is nuts. I hope things turn around for you.

Also, hubby said that when he did the test on the pc and they let him take it in Arabic that he could repeat the question if he didn't understand. He took it in both languages and did much better the second time when he got to take it in Arabic.

Again, good luck.

Thanks for the good wishes! I got a call from the Ins. Company today and they are withdrawing the cancellation! I didn't ask for this, but they offered tol extend his coverage for another 6 months, so he now has until October to get his license.

One down, 500 more challenges to go..
