sadly, my husbands grandmother died suddenly today. We were just approved for the GC last week, but we dont have it in hand yet. How long does it take to get the stamp at the local office. there is an 9:30 plane and the field office opens at 8. its about 20 min between the office and the airport. is it possible?

Sorry for the loss.

I doubt it would work.

If it is an international flight, you have to be there about 2 hours in advance.

Then you first have to schedule the infopass appointment. Sometimes that takes a day or two, if they don't allow walk-ins.

Get the stamp first and then get a flight!

I made an infopass appointment for tomorrow am. I am hoping that they will let us in early given the circumstances. it is a connecting flight, so hopefully they will let him board. we are going to give it a try, fingers crossed.

Just a quick update. We went to the local field office this morning and were able to get the I-551 stamp in my SO's passport. It only took us about 15min as we were the second people in line. We went straight to the airport from there and I am happy to report that he is currently en route.
