Your child will not automatically be a US citizen. You must register your child's birth with the US embassy in Manila in order to obtain US citizenship. There are certain requirements that must be met before your child can gain citizenship.

How long have you been a USC and how long have you lived in the US? It's not automatic for all circumstances.

I have a friend here in the Philippines that just went thru this with his new baby. the process he went thru was first obtaining a certified birth certificate from the local government (ie. city hall) to have the birth registered within the Philippines with the name of the USC on it. then they had to contact the US Embassy in Manila to register a foreign birth. That process was followed by an interview with a US CO at the Embassy. They were required to obtain a DNA test and then once that was completed the process went forward. They next were issued a SS number for the baby and a US Passport in the baby's name. The whole process took around 2 months to complete. If you want the Baby to have Dual Citizenship you will have to do the same with the Philippine Embassy. This is just a brief description of the process he went through.

2 months??mine only took 10 days and i was not required of the DNA test. I think the DNA thing made the process longer.
