I think I might be a bit hugophobic - certainly as a way to greet people I hardly know. :o

Oh, I'd go right in for the bear hug if I met you in person. :jest:

I'm a hugger, but if I think the other person is not, I probably wouldn't hug them. If they are fine with it, I hug hello or goodbye. I don't give bear hugs very much though. Just the one armed "pat the back" kind with most people. lol. If I meet any of you one day, I could probably already know who is ok to hug and who is not.

Yeah this hugging thing is getting over done.

When I grew up, you only hugged someone (outside of romance) when someone was maybe leaving on a big trip of some meaningful moment.

Now it's like every time I part with someone they want to hug me.

Funny hug story:

Once I was in the hospital for a couple of days, a friend of mine who is a, huge hairy biker type was visiting me when my mom walked in the room.

I introduced them and as my mom leaned over to draw the partition curtain... to block the sunlight coming in, my friend Frank, thought my mom was leaning over to hug him.... and so he gave her a big hug and said "Nice to meet you".

My mom straightened up and "I wasn't trying to hug you, I was moving the curtain."

My mom is a new-comer to all this hugging too. :)

Another thing, why is it everyone wants to tell me "I love you" before they hang up the phone?

My kids are big on this and of course if I only talked to them once in a while it might seem more fitting but this is like a daily thing.

Some times I feel like answering back "Don't TELL me you love me, show me you love me by doing what I tell you!"

I tend to think if something is done often enough... it becomes meaningless.

I would prefer that my hugs or words of love, have meaning rather than repetition but I am way in the minority on this one so I hug and return "I love you" in return.

I've always liked how the Japanese greet each other -- with a bow (that's the body gesture and not the weapon). I tend to think handshakes are a good way to spread germs. Maybe that sounds a bit crazy since we're exposed to potential illness everyday, but let's be honest... do you know where so-and-so's hands have been? What if they didn't wash them after going to the bathroom? Do you really want to shake the hands of an individual who could've been wiping themselves (and not washed) just a moment before?

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
