when u get ur medical done by the civil suregeon for the 1-693? if u never got it done before they are going to test u for it even if u have the tb shot already..is really simple they will just inject some type of gel in ur arm , wait 72 hrs go back to the doc. if its positve u would get a rash if not nothing happens.. when I went I was nervious cuz I got the tb shot in mexico when I was lil ..so I have the virus but so it might come positive but it doesn't mean u have it... I'm lucky everything was positive ...

The civil surgeon will evaluate your vaccination record if you need to have another shot or not base on your age and history of shots. In my case I was not given another shot cuz the surgeon said my vaccination is complete. They will all do a skin test to all the applicants who wants to get an I-693.

You dont need tb skin test because you already had your medical prior to getting your K1 visa. I told the civil surgeon that I am under K1 and she made sure I don't need to do any test by reading her guidelines and told me I was right. She asked for my vaccination supplement and proceeded wth giving me the additional shots I need to complete. She then made me wait for 10 minutes and handed me a sealed envelope that said "DO NOT OPEN" "OPEN BY INS ONLY". That's for me and my son. By the way, the health department called us saying that they have my son's papers and he needs to come for test. We went to health department but he only had chest xray that turned out to be negative and that's it.

I went to the doctor and I got the TBskin test. So I would recommend you to wait until your doctor asks you to do that.

You don't need a TB skin test. They did all kinds of tests on you when you went to SLEC for your medical exam. All you need to submit is an I-693A --the vaccination supplement. make sure that you get all required vaccines and submit it to the USCIS or give it to your IO when you go to your interview. That is all you need to do. Don't pay for a TB skin test that you do not need.

How about reading the I-693 guidelines latest version from the USCIS website: I would assume that the I-693 instruction would be reliable.

NOTE: If you are applying for adjustment of status at least one year after your first admission to the United States as a refugee or as a "K" or "V" nonimmigrant visa holder, see Questions 1-3 in Section III, Frequently Asked Questions, before proceeding any further.

2. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e), or as a

B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen, and

C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then-

a. You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination.

actually the TB skin test is required for aliens entering the u.s., the one that waivers is the FULL MEDICAL EXAM. that is if you had ur medicals in the PI before a certain date,which i think is July 2008. check uscis website to be sure.

tb skin test is required no matter what

When I went to the Medical Center here in Foster City to get my I-693 the Medical Assistant told me that USCIS has requested that all applicants who wants to get I-693 will get a skin test due to the increasing number of people who were infected by tb this year 2009. I told them that my chest x-ray is clear and no problem at all but they will not give me my I-693 unless I will have a skin test. They are just following the USCIS instruction. It's a pain in the butt but there's nothing we can do but have it done. They will not ask you for another medical exam or any skin test IF you have all your medical result from St. luke's but if you don't then they will ask you to have a skin test and even blood test again.
