Regardless of any Religion, getting your head cut off is not a pleasant way to go in my opinion. Totally freaks me out, how about that poor girl at Virginia Tech, guy comes in and cuts her head off, ####### is that about. Let me put it this way, this is one of my top ten ways I DON 'T WANT TO DIE!!! Nasty way to go, give me a drug overdose anytime, something that just let's me fall asleep. Here are my top ten ways I don't want to go out-

  1. Beheaded
  2. Burned alive
  3. Buried alive
  4. Falling off the top of a large building
  5. Being crushed under a cement slab or boulder
  6. Being eaten alive by some kind of animal
  7. Nuclear catastrophe
  8. Cut in half with a saw
  9. Dragged behind a car at high speed
  10. Tortured, raped, and disemboweled

There are more ways, but these are just some of the ways I would not like to happen to myself.

how about being bored to death by watching endless reruns of rosanne? :P

Being a muslim is not an excuse to treat women like ######, even though this does seem to be the prevalent notion, particularly on this site.

it is not our viewpoint it is a fact in muslim culture that women are treated as property hence a muslim man can have more than one wife if he chooses women dont have that same option. Most Muslim countries dont allow a woman to own property. It is not a matter of what we think it is a matter of fact in the Muslim belief system.

So much BS, so little time.

1st - no, we aren't property.

Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has faith, verily to him will We give a new life that is good and pure, and We will bestow on such their reward according to the their actions. 16:97

Property can't do righteous work. Property isn't held responible for their actions. Property isn't rewarded for the good they do. Ergo, women are no property

2nd - women have held property rights since the time of the Prophet (saws). If some muslim nations don't allow this now (not that I can think of a single one that doesn't allow women to hold property), then they're going against the Messenger of God.

Is there room for improvement in muslim societies? Most definately. But is it the hell hole people make it out to be? Far from it.

Obviously it looks like Muslim women from the continent of Africa are treated differently from the more popular (and few) Middle-Eastern countries.

Contrary to popular belief, the muslim world is in fact not a monolith. Within the continent of Africa you have a wide variety of muslim societies that have developed on divergent paths. Nigeria is not South Africa is not Somalia is not Mauritania is not Tunisa is not Egypt.

And, fwiw, Egypt culturally identifies more with the middle east than with Africa, unless it's football season. Then they're all gung ho for the Africa Cup

That makes sense. Other religions and societies are the same way.

MS. CLEO don't get get me wrong, I personally have great respect for the Muslim faith. I don't agree with all their beliefs but the Western world(Christianity) owes the Muslim faith a lot! We wouldn't have the developments in math, science and technology that we have now if it hadn't been for our Muslim brothers ingenuity throughout early history. Most great advances came as the result of Europeans taking knowledge from Muslims and improving on it. The whole Industrial Revolution is a result of Muslim ideas adapted to industry. Irrigation, construction, Ect.

Prominent Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife

By Gene Warner

News Staff Reporter

Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

The killing apparently occurred some time late Thursday afternoon. Detectives still are looking for the murder weapon.

"Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible," Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said today.

Authorities say Aasiya Hassan recently had filed for divorce from her husband.

"She had an order of protection that had him out of the home as of Friday the 6th [of February]," Benz said.

Muzzammil Hassan was arraigned before Village Justice Deborah Chimes and sent to the Erie County Holding Center.

Contrary to popular belief, the muslim world is in fact not a monolith.
And basically never was after Mohammed's bucket-kicking.

And, fwiw, Egypt culturally identifies more with the middle east than with Africa, unless it's football season. Then they're all gung ho for the Africa Cup

As also is the case in Asia--which was one of the driving points behind 1971's splitting off of East Pakistan as Bangladesh. Banglas are closest culturally to mostly-Hindu (the state is over 20% Muslim) West Bengalis, especially linguistically; even otherwise, they are far closer culturally to the largely Buddhist Thai and Burmese than to the Muslim Baloch and Pashtuns--both of whom are far more like Iranians and Arabs--or the Punjabis and mohajirs who have much propagandised of being culturally closer to Arabs than to their own non-coreligionist kith and kin in India. And they don't even know that the first APPLICATION of such technologies was in the Roman Empire (as has been found in Pompeii/Ercolano/Stabie); of course Rome did occupy large parts of Africa to be able to steal such developments.

BTW, the three cities I mentioned were toast (literally) in 79 AD--almost half a millenium before Mohammed was even conceived.

American women who met their Muslim spouses on the internet, vacationed in their spouse's country for a week or two once or twice, then sat back in the United States, pining for "my habeeeeeeebeeeeeeeeeee" until he finally stepped foot off the plane is, by far, no experts in the lives of Muslim woman in a Muslim nations. Furthermore, as "habibti" soon learns, you can take a man out of his country, but you cannot take his country out of him.

Do these men beat their women? Absolutely. Do they beat them because they're all liquored up and in the mood? No. They do it because they CAN. Do these men kill their women? Yep, they sure do. Why? Honor, and no other reason.
