Police Records

Police records (Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales) are available to applicants over the age of 16, and are issued on green paper with the heading “Policia Nacional del Peru, Division de Identificacion, Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales”. The applicant's photo is attached to the certificate. Applicants without criminal records will have "No Registra Antecedentes" printed on the form. A negative certificate does not necessarily mean the subject has no police record, since police records may be deleted upon completion of sentence. A police record may be issued to residents or non-residents upon application to Policia de Investigaciones del Peru. Division de Identificacion, Av. Aramburu No. 550, Lima 34, Lima. The applicant must first request a fingerprint chart (ficha de canje internacional) and provide one photo. Processing time is normally three days. There is a small fee.

If the police report is good for a year then why would I want to wait till I get the NOA2 ? Is there a reason for waiting its just a question?

I have pretty much every thing else ready for when I ge the notice I/we can turn every thing in that day.

For some consulates these are valid 6 months, so if they are acquired during USCIS process, and the USCIS process goes long, then the cert may be invalid when you go to submit documents to NVC.

My husband had to get 4 police certificates. One was for the military service.

They are as follows:

1. Policia Nacional del Peru

2. Certificado Judicial de Antecedentes

3. Certificado de Antecedentes Judiciales a Nivel Nacional

4. Only needed if have military service -- Certificado de Antecedentes Judiciales Y/O Penales de Consejo Supremo de Justicia Militar.

If I remember correctly, the one that took the longest was about 8 days. And of course, each needs to be obtained in a different location in Lima for a different amount of soles. I don't know how to obtain or how long it takes if you do it outside of Lima.

When we called the embassy, they said they were valid for 1 year.

When I called NVC, they said they need to be valid when they receive them. He had already gotten them to be ready, and when we could finally send them, they would be expired a very short time. We got another set. But had the others to do the translations, which we decided to send.

The validity on the certificate itself is 3 months.

All of his certificates say NO in the blank.

All you need is the certificate they give you, no notarization.

If you have any more questions, send a message.

Joanne
