A little bit of background:

My husband and I filed for our AOS back in late January and got RFE'ed for his birth certificate in Mid-February. We didn't submit it originally because his mum told him that his birth certificate was destroyed in a fire when he was very young and they have always used his passport to get him through anything that would ever require his BC. When we got RFE'ed for it we asked his mum how to get a copy of it and she confessed that his BC was in tact but it had a different surname on it (he found out he had a different biological father) and that he had never had his name changed legally. So we ended up getting his name changed and sending back the RFE with the BC, name change docs and a letter explaining everything. This was done in May. We got the notice of receipt and continued on our wait.

We hadn't heard anything until last week when his AP arrived. Then today, in the mail, we got the notice to appear for his initial interview. We were completely shocked. First of all, Miami is processing cases from June of 2005, way before we initially submitted. The notice looks like it would be the one for the AOS interview, asking for all supporting evidence. But we're concerned now that it may be an interview to discuss the discrepency with his surname.

I'm wondering if anyone has gotten a notice to appear for initial interview for anything other than the AOS interview? This just seems way too good to be true.

Also curious if anyone else from South Florida has recently received their interview notice way before the processing time like us.

I appreciate any replies you have to offer!

YIKES. What a double whammy. I had a couple of guys with this exact same situation when I was a military recruiter way back when... found out they were adopted --- ugh...

My prayers are with you and best of luck with the aos.

Hi

I was watching Miami and thinking it must be getting close to my turn for an interview notice, but just got transferred to CSC instead, but yes, it sounds like your AOS interview. Well done, and good luck, things seem to have really caught up here in Sth Florida.

Sorry to hear about the circumstances of your finding out about your parents.

There were only a few interview experiences for Miami that I could find, so let us know how it went, wont you?

Best wishes
