Hmmm...well ебать is "to ####," so I'm pretty sure it's "еби," and thought I'd heard it used that way. There's a really high likelihood I'm wrong.

Unless you mean the "б" in "тбою." I'm even less sure about this one, but I used "тбою" because (I think) the phrase is in instrumental case. I.e., "f*** with your mother."

Seriously, it all makes sense now. For the longest, I never understood why the endings were different when using certain f'king words. Now I get it. The person being f'ked is actually being affected by a reflexive instead of an action so after they get f'ked in the action (accusative!) then they're sitting there, basking in the post-coital bliss of reflexive.

By far, hands down, no question, best of the best................. 12ga. P-U-M-P! And it's the best gun for everyone when it comes to close-in self defense, not just the ladies. Several reasons for the 12ga. pump, most important being it's easy, it's big, and it's scary. It's also pretty cheap too! (And there's still ammo available for it. Trying to get ammo for your 9 or 40 right now? You'd have better luck getting a K-1 visa!)

Easy to operate, even in the dark. A good 5 minutes of training is all it takes and anyone can operate it, even the little ol' lady. It doesn't require a lot of fumbling around, aiming, etc. Just pump and squeeze.

It's big. Sure it's long and heavy (kind of like something else I'm used to toting around all day.....) but in this case, like all cases, no matter what she's told you in the past, size matters.

A shotgun will significantly increase the probability of hits on target, especially compared to a pistol. I don't know how many of my buddies have recently purchased guns for "home defense" and stupidly bought a .40cal Glock that they can barely hit the target with, even at 7 yards. Add a little adrenaline and a ton of fear, and they're going to miss every time. (There's a reason Glocks have 16 shot mags!) However, if they'd only pump the shotgun and squeeze, they would GUARANTEE hits on their targets at 7 yards. And when I say hit, I mean "make the chest cavity disappear" not "tag them in the arm" on their way to stab me. Trying to hit a moving target (in the dark) with a pistol is extremely difficult. Hitting a moving target (anytime) with a shotgun is almost like cheating it's so easy. And what's really great about the shotgun is you're not going to shoot through your neighbor's house as well. Shoot 17 rounds of .40cal through your bedroom and see where it ends up. Shoot a shot or two of #4 birdshot or 00Buck and it'll stop nicely inside the criminal or the sheetrock, at most the exterior wall. And then there's always "the club" aspect of a shotgun that's not present with a pistol. Once you're out of shots, it's like having a Louisville Slugger.

"But slim, my wife only weighs 50 kilos. Isn't a shotgun too heavy for her to lift and too big to carry around?" Ask yourself that question next times she's pissed off at you. I think you'll find she's more than capable of lifting and pointing a shotgun. As said above, add fear and adrenaline. If you really wanna see a woman pumped up, threaten her kids. Mama bear is not to be triffled with!

It's scary. The unmistakeable sound of the action being pumped strikes fear into anyone on the receiving end. The sight of the little woman clutching one (and pointing it in your direction) is enough to make even the hardest of criminals $#!t their pants. EVERYONE knows what shotguns are capable of. Smart criminals also know how hard it is to hit a moving target with a pistol. They may take that chance. Staring down the barrel of a 12ga., they're more apt to do as they're told and wait patiently for the cops to come save them. The Lady Smith and all the other little pink pistols are cool for concealed carry (once she's been properly trained and used to carrying a gun) but they have absolutely no business what-so-ever being a close-in defense gun. Pistols are what you use when you're not allowed to carry a long gun. At home, which would be where you'd encounter your close-in defense, you are allowed to carry a shotgun. Do it!

Another consideration is the price. A basic 12ga. pump from Wal-Mart is going to set you back appx. $200. Add a box or two of shells to that and you're looking at $250, tops. That's less than half the price of a good pistol. Now, personally, I dressed my shotgun up a little bit but my whole home defense rig was still about half the cost of my pistol. My shotgun, a Winchester 1300 Defender, was $250 and I added a synthetic pistol grip stock ($40) a flashlight with pressure switch ($90) and a shell-carrying sling ($15) for a grand total of less than $400. Add in a couple boxes of shells, and we now have the capability to light up the whole room, hit whatever we see, and still have enough money left over for a nice seafood dinner compared to what we would've spent on the new Glock that wouldn't do as good a job.

Last item, and probably the clencher, is safety. A shotgun can be stored loaded with shells and completely 100% safe if the shells are in the mag and the chamber is empty. A quick pump of the action, and it's fully loaded and ready to go. Plus, it's long, so there's no "accidental" shooting yourself. 9 times out of 10 when you hear about someone accidentally shooting themselves, it's with a pistol. It's just too hard to turn a long gun on yourself and shoot it. "But slim, what if the bad guy tries to turn it on my wife and shoot her with it?" Ah, in order for him to do that, wouldn't he have to pass over the business end first by reaching all the way over that loooong barrel?

I'm not knocking any particular gun here, and having any gun is better than having no gun. However, there are different guns suited for different missions and in this case, close-in defense, the 12ga. pump shotgun is the best. If you don't have one already, buy one. (And PM me first.... I'll go with you!)

If you think, for a second, that your gym's self-defense course is going to keep you safe at 2:00 in the morning, inside your own home, when an unknown person comes in to do you harm, then go ahead, spend your money on that training. But, if you'd like to survive the encounter without being victimized (or, more importantly, without your S/O being gang-raped while you watch) take whatever money you're going to spend on that "training" and go buy a 12ga. shotgun.

Now I'm not saying you shouldn't be trained in the "fists of fury" but you should get that training only after you're trained on the shotgun. Defense should be thought of from the farthest level in, not the closest level out. Engage the threat at the longest distance possible. Or RUN! I don't care how good someone's training is, there's absolutely no way (contrary to that J-Lo movie) that a 130 lb. woman is going to physically man-handle me. It's just not going to happen. I don't care if she's the MMA superstar, I'm still going to beat her into unconsciousness in a life or death fight. I do not want my wife in that situation, EVER! If it gets to the point where she needs to do some "hands on" stuff, she should apply it sparingly and then beat feet!

When she's at home, all alone, at night, am I more comfortable knowing she has the "gym's self defense course" or my shotgun and an extra box of shells?

Different tools for different missions. Physical self defense training isn't a bad thing, but an hour on the treadmill would benefit most of our wives way more than an hour of some so-called "expert" showing them arm bars and choke holds. Miss Congeniality was a great movie, but Benjamin Bratt would've beat the $#!t outta Sandra Bullock in a real fight. But if Sandra had her shotgun......

Good info. Slim, but I was looking for recommendations on guns she can conceal and carry. I never really thought about more than a pistol for the house (I have a few). I will talk shotgun with her today too.

I agree with Slim on the shotgun. You can get them with shorter 18 inch barrels which are perfect to wield around the house.

If you are still interested in a handgun, most will agree a revolver (wheel gun) is the easiest to operate, reload and shoot.

Semi-automatics do take some amount of skill to operate.

Of course one should take a gun safety and gun shooting course.
