Why SLEC gets the passport?

I am just wondering why SLEC getting the passport. My fiance kinda want to be cautious and asking why they will need my passport.

Any reasons?

The SLEC will be the one to forward your passport to the embassy if you pass the medical.

What will they do with the passport? Of course, during the interview, I need to bring it. Can they just forward the medical results without it? I just want to know the purpose of getting the passport. Because if it is really needed, then, then there should be no exemptions.

Based on your timeline, your interview is one month after your medical. SLEC would get your passport and forward it to US embassy. If you have your interview less than a week after your medical, most of the time, SLEC would return your passport.

The suggested medical & interview time interval is one week.

The SLEC will be the one to forward your passport to the embassy if you pass the medical.

What will they do with the passport? Of course, during the interview, I need to bring it. Can they just forward the medical results without it? I just want to know the purpose of getting the passport. Because if it is really needed, then, then there should be no exemptions.

Sorry, just seeing some loopholes on this. Whats the difference between few weeks and one week before interview. It's just the time. If they need it for some sort of processing, then whether few weeks or one week is regardless.

Actually I was asking the same question and now I know the answer. We recieved our visa last week and Marian told me that she does have a stamp inside her passport from SLEC stating that she passed her medical exam. So its my guess that they take the passport and then all of the medical papers and passport go for a final approval and stamp, and so that stamp cannot be duplicated it is then forwarded by SLEC to the USEM. So its a check and balancing system. The USEM can then know the stamp is real.

But very good question!
