Hello,

I just like to know what is the better for interview,

Have more trip to my fiancée between NOA1 and NOA2 or be at interview with my fiancée?

I like to do both but I think my boss not let me do this.

I made one trip after we got NOA1.

Thank you,

B&Y

Register with the State Department before travel (The embassy will have your info) and be there for the interview with your fiancée!!!

I vote for being at the interview. NEVER have seen anyone regret they attended. At the same time I've seen MANY that are kicking themselves in the butte for not attending.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

Sounds like if you're there for the interview, you'll have three total trips. That's a good combination.

Agree with this and with pushbrk. For example, it is MANDATORY for the petitioner to attend the first interview in Ecuador... and the consulate will never admit this, even when asked directly.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I didn't do this when I went to Ukraine last time, how bad is this for us now?

It won't hurt you at all. I never registered with State when I went to Ukraine, and did go to the interview. The interview was a breeze, in part because I was there I hope. We stayed in Kiev long enough to pick up Viktoria's passport and come back together. Ask your SO how she feels about traveling alone to the US. She may help you decide when too go. I am not sure how much time off you can get, but Vika appreciated the chance to come back with me, although it wasn't necessary to do so.

If you can only do one, and you have all the documents and things you need, I would definitely opt for the interview. It really is not difficult but the women are usually very nervous and I think it just means a lot if you are there with them. I don't think it makes things any easier or faster if you are there, but it is moral support. Afterwards she will say "That's IT??????"

There is no need to register anything with anyone. The USC petitioner can attend the interview if he/she wants. Go with your fiancee and show your passport to the security/crowd control people outside, you will have no problem

We noticed that the women who interviewed alone did get more questions, but none had trouble or anything. All K visas were approved that day from what we could see. The only people who had trouble were some folks from a remote village who hadn't done the paperwork correctly.

You my be correct, Brad. Of 6 women there when we interviewed (3 with their American fiances) nly one had a question, one that was there by herself. She didn't know the answer (it was something about her fiance's tax return on the I-134) but the embassy staff found the answer and everyone got their visas that day. If you do NOT go to the interview, make sure your fiancee has everything and that she understands it as she may be asked questions. The embassy people were really helpful with this one young lady though, so it isn't like they are looking for a reason to reject you.

The important thing is so have evidence showing an ongoing relationship

I respectfully disagree jasman. The only things required are that you have 1) met once within the past two years, and 2) intend to marry within the 90 day timeframe. The embassy also looks for income information to prove (supposedly) that no one will arrive and go immediately on state aid. There are several countries ( the Phillipines and Vietnam come to mind) where consular officers ask for much more detail than regulations call for - but Ukraine is not one of them. People who interview in Kiev typically have a pretty easy time of it, and many bring truckloads of email, call reports, letters, etc. for nothing. Better safe than sorry, true, but there is no requirement to prove your relationship is ongoing to the consular officer.

Go to the interview if you can! I was in the same position as you and we decided that I would NOT travel to Brazil to spend Christmas '06 with my husband so that I could travel there for the interview - a few months later.

It's expensive and hard with work to make as many trips as we'd like to, I know. But I think it's important to be at the interview if you can, and the embassy will allow it.

We were so nervous, I can't imagine my hubby having to go alone...and that's the best proof you can have.

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

Viktoria was very nervous too, and my being there meant so much to her that it was a good idea to go for that reason alone.
