Very interesting story. Definitely a side of America you never see.

Also a disgrace considering miners in Australia can earn up to $200K

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I saw some of the special on World New Tonight. The mother was trying to get clean and her GED was a start. The daughter seemed so mature, but jaded by it all. I hope things work out for them.

Very sad, indeed.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Really depressing to watch. Especially to see kids living under those conditions in the richest country in the world.

an untold story there - it's more about africa aid and this or that, rather than what's in our own back yard.

:wow: Chris and I watched that last night.

Chris asked if I knew people still lived like that and whether there were any in Canada. I said yes, I haven't introduced you to that side of the family yet.

Was raised that charity begins at home. Somewhere that message was lost. World policeman indeed. Just think what a fraction of this countries wealth we have shipped overseas could have done.

It's true. I see a lot of people here on VJ more worried about an illegal alien than they are about their own people.

The Stimulus bill that just passed Congress is a perfect example. The pricks that voted for it just couldn't force themselves to exclude illegal aliens from stimulus jobs as the US economy tanks and hemorhages jobs by the millions. Stimulus employers are not required to use E-Verify. Not to mention that funding for E-Verify will be allowed to expire in March. What kind of stupidness is that? Especially now.

The US continues to import thousands of foreign workers monthly even as the economy sheds US jobs by the thousands every month. This makes no sense.

If this is change...Obama and the Dims can cram it where the sun don't shine. Friend of the American worker? Don't look like it to me. You can bet that whatever strategy they have takes their own best interests first and foremost. You can count on it.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

They don't care because both parties are trying to usurp that vote when they become citizens. They are posturing and the Socialists definately ahead in that area. I just read somewhere last week that from the Dems that there was going to have to be meaningful rules for the illegals to become legal soon and they were going to be working on that soon. They could care less about what we think and trust me the Neocons would do the same if those votes would come their way.

I like the people I like and dislike the people I dislike. Regardless of status ;)

You mean you don't ask your friends to show you their papers?

I'm shocked.
